Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello everybody, I just started blogging about conspiracy theories and other nonsense content from the internet. My most recent post is, “Sovereign Citizens: The Rise of Pseudolegal Extremist Movements” and can be found here:

    https://realitychallenged.blog/2017/06/05/sovereign-citizens-freeman-on-the-land-kymatica/

I am still trying to find my blogging style and would appreciate any feedback. Also, does anyone know how to reduce the margin size (gap) when using any one of the various “Heading” fonts?

    1. Ooo. I’ll be checking your post out.

I don’t believe the gap is something you can change. I think it might be a CSS issue that varies from theme to theme. You MIGHT be able to change it if you have a pro account, but I don’t know for sure.

    2. Hello! I love seeing intriguing posts with tons of references at the end. It’s obvious that you put a lot of thought and effort in your work. Fonts and the style are quite nice, I would only suggest to divide your post in two parts because I personally find it a bit too long for one reading.

      1. Thank you for your feedback! I think I will take your suggestion and make my posts a bit shorter in the future. It means a lot to me that you took the time to look into my content and comment on it. Again, thank you!

    1. Your story is soo cute. It’s probably not the word i was looking for, but it’s the closest i could find. I gave me the feel of Dublin (haven’t been there, though I can imagine, i guess) i loved it, really) thank you very much!!
And have a very ‘cute’ day😁

    1. I think you’re DEFINITELY on the right track! Your posts and pictures are awesome. I think the widgets on the right-hand side of your screen are a little intense, though. They take up more space than the actual blog posts, so it might be a good idea to make those a little smaller.

      Good luck!!

    2. Hey) i also think you are in the rightest track) first of all, i love title! It gave me kind of a Tumblr feel (it’s good, I promise). 2, the pictures are just divine! I’d add a little bit of emotions and ‘meat’ to the text, but it works as it is)
      Thank you!
      Have an incredible day ahead)

      1. Haha! I loved how our blog theme is the same. Definitely awesome pictures and great destinations! As I browsed, I can’t help but get envious of the places you’ve been. Anyway, if you happen to visit my country, I can help you with directions and best places to visit. Keep exploring!

  2. Hello,
I started my blog just over 3 weeks ago because I got scared of the fact everyone’s going to uni and starting their lives whilst i’m here on a gap year not knowing what I want to do. I thought I love to write and read so why not start a blog and so I got the courage too. I don’t know where this will go but im writing about travel, health and food so if you’re willing to give it a read.
I’d love that and to hear what people think. Hope you’re having a lovely day.

    1. I can’t even really class mine as a gap year because I was working at the time, I never attended university, I became a qualified nursery teacher and went straight to work after a year at college. I LOVED my job but something was missing so I literally just took off. I left my job, gathered all my savings together and booked a month long volunteering adventure in Malawi. It spiralled from there and I went places and saw things I’d only ever dreamed about. You’ve only got one life, why not make it the best story in the world🌍❤️

      1. What made you not go to uni? Its so nice to listen to other people who havent gone to uni who’ve had the best time. Thats amazing to just get up and go. My friends loved Malawi and said it was an experience of a lifetime! It’s incredible to go out there and see the world, like you said, life really is too short, go live it😊💚

      2. I just don’t think it was in the cards for me, I kind of fell into childcare and became a nursery teacher and loved it! Hands down the best job I ever ever had. I did think about going back to uni after but in my heart I just don’t think it’s for me! I wouldn’t change a thing about the last year, you’re totally right. I hope you have the best time on your travels, I’m ten times the person I was when I started. Can’t change the world from one place, right? Taking over the world, one adventure at a time😂❤️

    1. This post was pretty good, Meher. While reading this, I remembered a quote that’s kept on a blue-board in my school. It says, “Life isn’t about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself.”
Really good post. Will surely read all of your other posts too.
And.. if you have time, do check out my blog too,

    1. Just saw your post. I enjoy reading, so it was interesting. Since you seem to like suspense/thriller/mystery and are looking to “expand” your reading, you might want to look at Jason Goodwin’s “The Janissary Tree.” The first in a series of books.

      1. I agree. I lived close to a Firehouse not long ago and I haves to say, the fireman were always taking care of their fire truck, various equipment and doing fire drills using their ladders and wearing their heavy jackets in 80 degree weather and timing themselves during these drills. I would hear a loud speaker call them out at night when some disaster struck! They work hard. Thanks for stopping by. I’m heading over to visit your site. 🙂

      1. Thanks for the advice. People are following me, so I am not sure how they are doing it. I will have to figure out how to do the Follow button. I think you mean the button that shows up on the bottom right part of the Blog, yes?

  7. Hi! Blogger from the Philippines here. I’m on a roll and have recently written up a lot of new posts – mostly about our trip to Cebu – a couple of food reviews and such. This week, I’ll most likely be able to post up my overdue posts about my vacation to the UK as well!
Feel free to check out my blog and I hope you all have a good day ahead! 😀

    1. Your post was a good read. Except for those who are completely paraoid, we all have confidence in some things that we don’t see. Have you read the book, “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist”? I have a summary of it on the Book Summaries page of my site: https://gracelead.co

  8. I’m just not media savvy. I put posts up all the time including replying to Krista Stevens’ word prompts. All I’m trying to do is get a little humor out there. A few billion dollars wouldn’t hurt, either.
