Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hi!
Your ‘Home’ and ‘Music Planet 2017’ tabs go to the same place (your home page) but consider having a link to a feed of your blog posts higher up.

  1. Hello everyone,

Hope you are having a good Monday, and hope your blogging year so far has gone well. I can hardly believe that we are just a few days away from hitting the half-year mark.

I have a new post which I’d like to share with you all, which is my response to today’s Daily Post Word Prompt: https://apurposedrivenachiever.wordpress.com/2017/05/22/anchored-not-adrift/
Hope you enjoy reading and I’d be grateful if you could leave any comments/likes you feel disposed to make on the actual post, at my blog site.

    With many thanks in anticipation.

    1. It’s seems like something footballers would like. I didn’t see tags on the post. A few tags might help people find your posts. Also, I noticed you have few text widget areas with filler text. You might want to fix or remove those. https://gracelead.co

    1. I’m wondering why you stopped blogging for so long. It seems like you were successful and you had a good network. I had another blog years ago and I stopped writing because it was simply too time consuming and I didn’t have a community. I would love to connect with you… you seem warm and intriguing!
      Warmly,

      1. Thank you Shelly. I stopped blogging because I became heavily involved with writingforums.com forum. One day I woke up and thought: I miss my blogging buddies! I returned only to find many had stopped blogging or had disappeared. If you want to build your own network of blogging buddies you basically need to allow time to visit, read and comment on other blogs. Find people with the same interests as you 🙂 I will pop over to your blog now.

    1. I liked your post. One suggestion though, crediting a photo to Google isn’t crediting the actual photographer/artist. If you can, you should always try to put the correct name, and make sure you have permission to use that photo. You don’t want to get caught for copyright infringement. Yikes!

  6. Hi everyone! I’m new to the blogosphere and I’ve just published my first post – a photography session featuring pastels in nature. I’d love some feedback and would be honoured if you checked it out. Any other feedback (not about the post) would also be appreciated.

    1. I like that you explain your thinking in your posts. It lets us as readers get a behind the scenes look into your pictures. I would recommend adding a little bit about how you took and edited the pictures (different settings and things) to help others take better pictures too. Also, add a call to action at the end. Ask readers to add their comments or critiques. With a specific call to action, your engagement should go way up.

    1. Aloha Delta! The important thing in writing is to speak your truth. Rather than writing about why you love Sex in the City, maybe just think about why you love it and then think about why you feel that and write about that. Does that make sense? Ask yourself why and then why is that and why to the next thing to get to the real why. For example, I love SIC because I can relate to the characters. Why do I relate to the characters? Because I’ve had similar experiences. Hmmm…Now that’s something you can write about… you and your experiences. You can do this with any topic because what’s really important is YOU and your thoughts and feelings. Take SIC out of it. When you do all that work then it may be easier to shorten your writing to the essence of what you’re trying to say. I hope that was helpful.

Keep writing and speaking your truth!

  7. Happy Monday everyone! I apologize for being MIA lately, as I have been feeling ill. But I am back at it! And I look forward to peeking in on some of the news stories and posts that my fellow bloggers have written. I invite you to also check out my baby blog using the link below. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. So let’s educate, support, and break the stigma. Have a great week!
