Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Your blog is very nice. It will be exceptionally helpful for parent and educators. Keep up the good and honest work! Best wishes for those No Sleep Monday, Time Out Tuesdays, and Melt Down Wednesdays.

    1. I left a comment on your site, but wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your message and LOVED the metaphor of “stacking books” being comparable to worrying about the future.

  2. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem of the week, “From the Vault: The Fallen, The Forgotten, and the Forsaken.” In celebration of my blog’s second anniversary, I went into the vault and uncovered the very first poem I published. It’s medieval fantasy, but there’s a dark edge to it. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi Fellow Trying-To-Write-Things-That-People-Don’t-Hate-ers, Vanessa from PartTime-Traveller here!

    1. Beautiful and brave. I love your photos. Maybe shorten it a bit as it is quite lengthy. This is always a struggle for writers! Don’t worry about what other people think. Just speak your truth and the right people will find it (whether or not they agree with you). Hugs!

      1. Thank you so much!
Yes, trying to condense the Everest trip into one post was a challenge. I agree with you and my two subsequent posts are shorter (I am breaking trips up now!). Many thanks for your kind words.

  4. This week and next I have invited people from our community to share the Lessons Learned in the Last Year. Please check out today’s post (as it is my first Guest Post) and let me know how you think it looks and if there is anything you suggest I do differently for my upcoming Guest Posts. http://www.intentergy.com

I LOVE checking out the work of other bloggers, so you can count on me returning the favor for you and your site. 🙂

  5. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out a very personal piece. It’s part writing tip, but more my writing philosophy, “No Genre Needed 2017.” In celebration of my blog’s second anniversary, I’m sharing the first piece I posted. It serves as my blog’s mission statement, and explains why there isn’t a set theme, or genre. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes the archive does seem to appear twice and it’s appears on the bottom while there’s lot of free space on the side, so if you could fit it there, It would look compact. Everything else looks great!

  7. Hello all.

Just posted my “Smoky Sausage Linguine” recipe earlier today:

    Smoky Sausage Linguine

Unfortunately the natural light faded before I got to it that day so I just wanted to get some feedback on the artificial lighting I had to use for the final image.

Thank you all in advance 🙂

  8. Hi,

I’m relatively new to this site and still learning my way around. If I wanted too write normal text, and then hyperlink it elsewhere, how would I do that?

My recent post is called ‘I was an airplane medical emergency’ (https://bornintothewildlife.wordpress.com/2017/05/17/i-was-an-airplane-medical-emergency/).

I tend to write about my life stories, and I would love to read other blogs that have random stories! Please let me know if any of you write random stories too!

    1. Hi Born!
To hyperlink, just select the text and then click on the icon that looks like a chain. It’ll then give you the option to link the words to another page (article) on your site or to a different website.

      I hope this helps!

  11. I write about the military, being a veteran and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on my site, MsPTSD.org. I hope each post is both educational and well-written, as well as entertaining. Would you mind providing feedback on what I have written so far?

Since this is a new site, I would like advice on how best to get blog followers.

Lastly, but not least(ly?), I would love to hear advice on how to monetize the site with subtly. I hate to have to monetize it at all, but mamma’s gotta justify a sink full of dirty dishes somehow.

    1. What a powerful topic and a vulnerable one to talk about. PTSD is something so very real and needs to be discussed more openly.

As for followers – posts like these are good! Commenting on other people’s work, getting your name out there.

Not too sure about monetising as it depends on the different topics. I know options like Adsense are good to go with.

    2. I read “Because the Days are Long and the Nights are Longer.” I love your vulnerability. Your words expose your inner rage which is both compelling and repellant at the same time. I subscribed to your blog. If you’d like to connect with me, my contact info is on my blog. I have some ideas you may be interested in.
