Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hey Ida your writing style is confident and I feel I am in the hands of someone who knows their subject , I suspect my son is autistic just to let you know I didn’t know the signs..maybe you can elaborate more from the text and give examples.. as a mother to have a son possibly on the spectrum is actually heartbreaking as they can’t function like others in life.. few friends.. isolated.. thanks for bringing this topic to forefront 😀

Hey Louise!
I’m afraid my knowledge on the matter is fairly basic. I understand that can be a hard news to get… However, some autistic people on the high-functioning end of the spectrum are able to function just fine – especially in adulthood once they’ve learned the social rules and accepted to live with it (that was formerly called Aspergers Syndrome). I warmly recommend reading the following blog, if that can help you feel better: https://anonymouslyautistic.net/
Also… remember that the diagnostic is only there to help you find a way to help him. It’s not a sentence. Your son is the same he was before. (I apologise if that sounds… I don’t know how that could sound, but I’ve dealt with mental health diagnostics before and people seem to find them harder to accept than the actual “condition”).
If you want to talk more about it, I encourage you to contact me either via my blog, Twitter or Facebook, because the comments here will be blocked next Monday. ^_^

Aaaah, I read too quickly and I can’t just go and edit it. My overworked brain doesn’t work very well, haha. ^^;
So he’s not diagnosed yet. Well, you’ll be prepared if he eventually is. ^^; Common signs include difficulty in learning how to speak, having a hard time understanding social rules, avoiding eye contact or being touched, meltdowns (sometimes, even too much “sensory” information can cause them). There can also me a marked interest in one particular thing (the most “common” would be numbers).
It’s difficult to say more because I don’t know what age he is or anything else. Also, not all signs apply to everybody: I have a 3-year-old autistic nephew, and he gladly hugs anyone.
These days, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to get him tested if you live in North America… I don’t know about the rest of the world, but if you’re worried you should ask his physician about it. There are also various tests online that can help you:

I hope *now* I’ve answered your question. ^^;

Very helpful, thanks for sharing. I have a question, does Pinterest is essential social media tool for your blog to drive traffic? I am currently on Facebook and twitter, google +, do I really need to have Pinterest account for my blog? Managing multiple social media accounts are very difficult, you know that…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Mana gong multiple accounts can definitely be difficult. I feel Pinterest is worth it if you are serious about blogging and really wanting to grow. Facebook currently drives the most traffic for me with Pinterest being second. I personally don’t use twitter or google + so Facebook and Pinterest are my main two social media sites I use.

Hi – Thank you! I went to https://louisecarroll840.wordpress.com – am reposting in case someone wants to click on your link, and they should! It’s a fun ride. I like your writing – it really put me in the middle of Cairo.
A couple of cosmetic suggestions: I wasn’t sure how to navigate the memoir section, which one should I start with? I started at the bottom of the dropdown list under Memoirs. When I clicked on that section, it brought me to a blank page, which confused me a little. Maybe you could number them if they are sequential, or put the links on the page in order.
Also, the block quotes threw me. I thought it worked when you quoted another blogger (imagine a magazine, where a key quote is drawn out in a side bar in a big block). Otherwise I’d just stick to quotation marks.
I’ve followed – looking forward to future reads!

This week, something new happened to me, twice. First, I received two dissenting comments on a blogpost I wrote. I had no idea that I was stepping into controversial waters. I thought I was just posting a clever rant about the current state of innovation.
Then I commented on another blog and a half dozen people took issue with what I wrote. How often do you get criticized or disagreed with:

I like your post and the fact that you are able to go without a cellphone! Wow! I wouldn’t worry about people who disagree with you. There are always people who like to argue no matter what the subject. Just take it as an alternative point of view and move on. Keep doing what you’re doing!

“The common cold is still common” – I really liked this line. Well to be very honest technology is the only thing which man has created in this anarchy and hasn’t understood it yet. Sometimes I think, technological advancement is just making our world more mechanical and our lives are getting transformed into a simulation just like a Sci-fi movie. I really liked your writing. Keep it up. Cheers! 🙂

Thanks for your positive feedback. I agree, it’s all getting unnecessarily sci-fi. How long before cellular tech is implanted in our bodies? But then, we may actually see some medical advances–real time data beamed directly to our doctor.

Life is about the thrills and chills. Though roller coasters is not certainly my genre haha. “They are a piece of cake” – who said that. Anyways it was a great read. Really liked it. Keep writing as always. Cheers! 🙂

Hi guys!
Think about the last time you were curious about something: Did you pull out your phone and Google your question? And when you found the answer, did your curiosity simply stop?
Yesterday’s Everyday Nostalgia post talks about why it’s so important to stay curious in our lives — lives that are filled with technology that provides us with almost every answer possible at our fingertips. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know your thoughts on this! https://nostalgiadiaries.com/2017/05/21/week-20-the-case-for-staying-curious-everyday-nostalgia/
Thanks!! 🙂

Interesting read, especially as I am totally one of these “google-anything-anywhere” people. At the same time, I absolutely share your views on the importance of curiosity. Not sure if and how the two go together, but food for thought…!
(Somehow can’t “like” on your page, so I do it here.)

Curiosity is a necessary evil. You know what I’m trying to say? It was a great read, especially the way you described Zoey walking. That was so elaborated and vivid. Keep writing as always. Cheers! 🙂
