First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hello everyone 🙂 been blogging since the 18th of last month . The above provided link was my first post . I basically write anything that I feel I should at that particular point … nothing factual … just poetry or writing that comes off my thought process . Looking towards receiving your feedback , so kindly 😊

    2. Hey. Went through your site. You got some placeholder text on right sidebar which you need to remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” section of your theme customizer and get your “About” page written up. The post was great, loved the flow of it, beautifully written and the image was so captivating. Keep writing 🙂

  1. 13 days blogging about learning, at age 44, that I have Autism Spectrum Disorder / Asperger’s Syndrome. A little over a year ago, we my 5-year old was diagnosed.

My posts, by and large, address the dynamics of Asperger’s across generations within my family.

I also offer the occasional rumination on politics, since, I am a teacher and researcher of that subject.

Below are two links. Link 1 is to my first post; Link 2 is to my my recent post.

  2. Hello everyone. I started blogging here, four days back. I’m studying in a university to be an engineer. But I’m someone, who loves writing. My pent up feelings and emotions come out in the form of ink and letters. I’ve recently written about Body shaming. Do read my other article also. It is about sub consciousness, ‘An Encounter with Me’

    1. Your post was great. Surely a fitting shot against body shaming. The theme addresses such a pressing issue which was a very good point. I loved the picture you included. Just an advise to get your about page written up. Keep writing as always. Cheers!

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

  4. Hello everyone,

I’m Ingrid and I’m from Liverpool, UK.

I started writing poetry this month, and I set up my first ever blog yesterday to share my poems. I put a couple of pre-Blog ones up as a starter but this is my first poem written directly for this Blog, which I wrote and posted this morning.

Although I’ve always loved writing, I never really nailed the long format. But I realised recently that poetry was much more in line with my natural style.

So I’m just going to give it a go.

Happy to have joined this creative community and looking forward to writing, and to reading you all.

    Thanks! Hope you enjoy this..

  6. Hey, guys.
I just began blogging two days back. My blogs are meant to be inspirational. It is so easy for us to see the monsters in others but not in ourselves. And sometimes we do see the monsters in ourselves, and we must learn to embrace it. A few mistakes do not make you a bad person. I write to show that there is good in every person, that there is a poetic beauty in our errs. Thank you.

Thank you so very much for letting me know that the link is wrong . I actually thought that I had copied the direct link as I had opened the post and copied the address in the browser, so now I am more than a little confused. Can I edit my original post to rectify the error?

The thing I liked about your blog is that your writing makes it feel us(the readers) so comfortable as if we aren’t reading your work but actually conversing with you. An advise would be to get your about page written up and I noticed some placeholder text in your menu panel, you need to edit/remove them using the “Text Widget” section of your Theme customizer. 1. PS. I can’t figure out the difference between a visit and a view (on the stats page). Also, what is the significance of the ‘contact’ button. When I hit the contact button on other people’s blogs, my contact info appears. Finally, is the stats page the default page, when I hit ‘my site’ the second time?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. The views is the total amount of page views you have received and visitors is the amount of people. For example you may have 10 views but only 5 visitors because the visitors may have viewed more than one page on your site. The contact button is good if you are growing and looking to work with companies that way they can reach you. I’m not sure I know the answer to your last question.
