Community Pool

The place where bloggers give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. 50 points for using Baz Luhrmann’s sunscreen and 50 points for using it so smartly; where’s the blogging award at.
That’s a great piece. I have found any sneakers play the role of great running shoes as long as you didn’t forget to cut your long nails short (esp me) and the inner of the shoes is soft.
Also, try warming up your body thru small excercises whenever free in the day so itll get used to movin’. Again, greaaat post

      1. Oooh I like the idea of moving during the day! Well, I like the idea more than I’ll probably like actually doing it but I’m going to start! Ease my body into it! Thank you for that!!!

    1. I like your post, especially the meme about making the onions cry. I agree with you that we need to get “into action” to achieve results.

    1. Very informative without being an info dump. The links are helpful and my only complaint is that I would prefer them to open in a separate window/tab.

That’s just my personal quirk and it does not detract from the excellent work that you put into the post.

  6. I’d like to invite fans of history and/or poetry to check out my poem of the week, “The Elephant Riders Parts I & II.” I wrote both parts as individual poems, but combined them here to accompany the book I’ll be reviewing on Tuesday. If you don’t know the elephant riders were the legendary part of Hannibal Barca’s army crossing the Alps to fight Rome in Italy during the Second Punic War. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page as well, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  8. Here is a story about the beginning of a workday many years ago:

My question is this: Does the video add value to the story or distract from the narrative?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to comment.

      2. HAHA I can’t believe you find it cool, it was a rather random title i came up with because i’d like to think my writings are ” glories “. I don’t really edit a lot of my things because i’m lazy and i have to deal with school first ! Thank you so much for reading and commenting and being so lovely ! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, i tried my best, not sure if it’s any good but i always try !

  10. Hello beginners, advance and professional bloggers.
I want to ask a question today.
What are the top 6 writing tips that have worked for YOU?
You know the English composition Intro, body and conclusion? Yeah, just like that.
Please feel free to comment any tips and techniques, appreciated. THANKS

    1. 1. Be clear on the purpose of your piece of writing (persuade, educate, entertain, evoke emotion). 2. Decide on key points that will achieve your purpose. 3. Write the key points then put them in a logical order. 4. Write an introduction that is succinct and gives people a reason to continue reading. 5. Write a conclusion that either summarizes key points or gives a call to action. 6. Edit what you have written. Ideally, walk away from it for at least 24 hours then proofread it. Ask someone to proofread for you or use a proofreading app. https://gracelead.co

      1. Thank you!!! I like the last point and point number 2. Key points always make it easier. I will share these points on my blog with your link.

      1. Aand *drum roll*, your blog just became one of my favorites and in there “dear disappointment” is number one. As someone who is currently battling disappointment, it was on point. 👌
