To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Dear Ally, 20 years ago I made that journey in reverse to Australia. Can’t wait to hear more about how it’s all going for you. It’s a follow from me!

  1. Happy Friday Everyone.
I’ve recently started a blog about my life as an Operating Department Practitioner, working in operating theatres in and around London. The blog contains stories about my experiences over the past 8 years and gives an insight into the role itself. Please have a look and follow if it’s something that interests you. Thank

  2. Hi everyone! I just started my site and would be extremely grateful for any feedback (please be kind in your criticism, I’m new to this whole thing😃). Just a little background, my goal is to connect with others in direct sales or looking to get into direct sales. Thanks for looking I will do the same for other posters!

  3. Hi everyone! I’m a new blogger. I write what’s on my mind and I want to write regularly. My posts are usually short but sometimes I might post some essays I wrote for class. Please check out my blog and feel free to comment! Really appreciate it~

    1. With all due respect to Word Press, in my opinion the header of that theme is depressing. Especially for the type of writing it looks like you’re doing. I’d suggest you go to Pixabay.com and find a pic that suits your titel, “Drops of Dew”, download the largest size (you’ll need about 1260 pxilis size) and you can install it on your blog, see if you like it.

To install a new Header image, go to Themes, click customize, a pop-out side bar will appear on your left, click Header. You’ll go to the Header screen that shows the various options for your theme. Click the button at the top that says, Choose (or Install?) new image. Then download the one you just picked. Download several images and try them out. Just hit Save Changes, the button at the top of screen, when you find the one you’re happy with.

Now that’s my opinion. You can ignore it if you’re happy with the default header you’ve chosen. 🙂

      All the best.

      1. Checked you blog again. I think the header you’ve chosen is much more suitable. 🙂
When you install a new header, they give you a choice to “Crop & Publish” or “Skip Cropping — Publish as is.” If you click on publish as is, you get the whole picture. It makes for a huge header, but some folks like that.

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, ot the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags on your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure.

      Welcome!

    1. Hello whollycupcake, in the spirit of First Friday I am checking out the neighbors and unfortunately your link isn’t working and I’m getting an error message saying “this post can not be found”. Does it work for you?

    2. Welcome!

FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that.
