To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Welcome!

FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that.

      Here’s your homepage: https://simplyme257.wordpress.com/

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over on the right side — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. Hi Sam! Checked out your blog and think it’s a great idea. When you typed up your post here, you could have mentioned that yours is a site where you do reviews of children’s books. I’m sure other moms would like to check it out.
I’m just assuming that you’re British. It wouldn’t hurt to put some general location in your About. I know some bloggers go for the airy “I’m just a wandering soul on Planet Earth” type intro, but I much prefer having some idea where the person’s coming from.
I’m going to do a short post on Book Review blogs and will mention yours (do a Pingback — which means I’ll put your link on my blog so people can find your post.) All the best in this endeavor.

      1. Thank you that is very useful feedback. I will edit my About as I realised earlier that most of the books I mention will be from the UK so not necessarily easily available everywhere. Thank you also for mentioning my blog in your post, i hope my posts help others in the long run 🙂

    2. One more thought: You have to go to Theme> click on Customize> Widgets, and install a Follow this blog widget. I was going to follow you, but can’t see any button to click for that. I’m also a firm believer in the Recent Post widget and Tag cloud as a way to make a blog more user-friendly. Otherwise readers have to scroll and scroll and scroll down to see what you’ve posted about.

    1. Hi!! Your blog is a great start! Very simple and straightforward. I find myself feeling the same as well. Absolutely don’t feel hesitant to post what you like on your blog- agree! You definitely should add a follow button on your blog. Customize>Widgets>Sidebar/Widgets>follow button ❤ Hope this helps! Looking forward to more posts from you!

  1. There are a lot of new faces here and I one of them. I’m Zacc and I’ve started up this new blog at https://Grogue.net/ . It’s equivalent to a personal day to day journal/gallery with pictures of a tiny Grover plush to go along with the short articles.

      1. The idea started from my close friend Dale. Every year he would receive one of those Grover’s from his family. Mainly his brother. By the time I came to know him, he had about a dozen of the little things. We would get laughs by putting them in weird situations and places and take pictures of them. At one point Dale mentioned that he wished to have a spot online to dump these photos for everyone to see like a Facebook page. This sparked a a wheel to life in my head and decided to make a whole website/ blog about it.

      2. Excellent decision! I used to do the same thing, except with a domo doll (a brown monster character from a Japanese show). I would love to see you travel places with it! It’s hilarious that his family gives him dozens of these dolls. xD

  2. I am starting over as a blogger. I’ve been struggling with infertility for over a decade and have learned recently that a lot of what we are told through the journey of infertility, particularly by medical practitioners, is untrue. I am trying to get the word out. This is my first post of my new blog. I’d be glad to receive constructive criticism and feedback.

      1. Thanks! I know 3500 words is a lot for a first post (or any post really) but I wanted to give people a leaping off point. No one should go through what we have, and there’s no reason anyone has to. The information is there if you dig for it.
