Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Morecambe Bay is place of desolate beauty and treacherous tides. Its rich cockle and shrimp beds provide a living for local fishermen but have proved lethal for some. One of finest views of the Bay is from Hampsfell, a hill bedecked with rare limestone pavements. Below Hampsfell lies Cartmel, a medieval village still illuminated by its inspiring history.

      1. Some great ideas on your blog. Love the pallet cup holders. I have a pallet out back and was wondering what I could do with it!

      1. That’s strange. I can see a Reply comment box right at the bottom, but as you say all devices render slightly differently. Many thanks for all the likes though!

    1. I’ll be honest, this post is way over my head! When I got into stocks and bonds, first thing I did was hire someone to do it for me! I’d lose it all just reading the intro manual.

    1. It’s great to see that there still are people who care about the environment… too bad the number is a small one. Thank you for trying to make a difference and to raise awareness.

  4. Happy Monday fellow bloggers! I accidentally posted this last week on the “First Friday” thing, but when I realized it was the wrong community to post, I couldn’t figure out how to take it down. (I’m really sorry, WordPress, for misusing the community posts…totally not my intention)

I added another “True Cat Confessions” to my blog. I’ve been contemplating whether it is too risque, but I went with it anyway. Let me know what you think.

    1. My cat doesn’t shut the H up until he gets a piece of ham. Ham. He got it once as a kitten when he could barely stand and never forgot about it.

  5. Good morning, afternoon, or evening everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I would love to hear about it! I am going to leave a link for my post today. I felt compelled to write it as I took a risk myself this weekend and stepped out of my comfort zone. I figured it was a subject we all could easily understand and empathize on. Have a beautiful week, everyone! -Shawna

      1. Thank you! My husband has been before and enjoyed it. So my suggestion would be to jump on the opportunity. Please make sure to write about it! I would love to hear how it goes.

  6. Check out my poem, “This God.” It’s a poem about war, religion, gods, and ancient aliens. If you’re a fan of any of those topics, or poetry in general, stop by and give it a read. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page as well, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

    3. I kept on hearing about this new TV show, but I’ve never been interested enough to look it up. Having seen your post, I thought I should finally try to get some information about it. I liked the way you described it and how you explained everything so well 🙂 also, your own opinion about the show made me even more intrigued. Now I’m looking forward to watching the series 🙂

    1. Cool topic!

Suggestions: add an about page and add some sidebar widgets. 1) About pages let people know about you or the purpose of your blog (or both). 2) Definitely consider adding side widgets for “recent posts,” “top posts,” and “categories” since that will make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for without having to scroll all the way down.

    1. I have one helpful tip from my own experience on here. It would be better to put your blog site as an actual link instead of typing it in. I did the same my first 2 months and realized it is more work for people to copy the link and paste it. 🙂
