Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Nice! I like following some of the short post blogs. Just followed you! I would suggest some color.. even a soft tone just so it’s not completely white. You also have a “text widget” off to the right that you should consider hiding or updating to include real info. 🙂 -Marie http://www.goldisfromaliens.com

    2. Hey!
You write pretty good! I found some of them really amazing!
Marie here covered mostly all the tips, although i would also suggest adding a picture or two to make your blog attractive.

    1. Hey UnicornsAhead,

Great to see that you’re writing inspirational stuff. I think you can enhance your reach by structuring your ideas better – pick one central theme for each para to give your writing force. A grammar and spell check is also a great way to make sure readers aren’t put off by these things in getting to your message.

      Good luck!

    1. Hey Dacian,

The premise of the story – coping with a divorce – is interesting and can be an emotional minefield. I think you can make more out of it by focusing on Andreas’s feelings – perhaps on the conflicted emotions that he feels?
Adding a little detail about his life would also increase the emotional impact – for example, when he thinks of the music festival, what does he visualize that makes it so appealing to him? Swarms of people swaying to the beat that he can lose himself in? Loud music drowning out every thought?
      Hope this helps. –

  1. I had a hard time writing this week’s Everyday Nostalgia post, because it was an emotional topic. In the post, I talk about feeling like I am never “enough” and what I can do to not feel that way anymore. I’d love for you to check out the post. Do you ever struggle with feeling like you aren’t enough? I think it seems to be a universal problem. https://nostalgiadiaries.com/2017/04/02/week-13-you-are-enough-everyday-nostalgia/

  2. Hi Everyone!

I recently made a post about my new food journey and I would love a bit of feedback on it:

Also, I made a post abut my top sweet treat recipes:

      1. Yes! It’s definitely a big change but I’m super excited! I’ve found some really great recipes and I’m most excited to try them and put my own twist on them of course! I’m such a lover of chicken and fish too! It’s always great not to eat too many pork or read meat items! 🙂

  3. Hello all, I’ve been blogging for about a month. I think my story of overcoming childhood traumas could help others in bad situations and encourage them to not give up hope. Please check it out. I’ve also been through several themes, so please let me know if you like my current theme, as well as any other suggestions you may have. =)

  4. Hi all. I recently did a study of light on my blog, using an old water tower as my subject. I find the connection between my own photography and the music I love. For this one, I chose an old song by R.E.M.

    1. For me, your post was a good read. I think I saw a typo. Should, “prudent character comes God” be “prudent character comes from God” ? My favorite of your sentences was, “God gives His wisdom and instruction freely but one has to be willing to listen.” https://gracelead.co

  5. Hello Fellow Bloggers!!
I’m new to the site and I’m hoping to improve my writing skills and so here’s the link to my latest post Snippet #11

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php

Comment on the post to tell me what it made you feel if it made you feel anything at all. And if not then share why you couldn’t connect to it.
    It’ll be a great help. Thank you❤

    1. I like how you slip in general tips like marking the seam allowance. It’s also nice how you’re writing not only about your sewing journey, but your blogging journey. Making note of not measuring your own wrist and not taking enough photos are endearing and also helpful tips for sewers and bloggers!

The look is nice and clean, with a good mix of words and pictures.

Spelling and grammar checks! There aren’t a whole lot of mistakes, and I know I’m a bit pedantic at times, but seeing things like “defence” and “a apparel-weight” make this article hard for me to read.

I’m following you now; looking forward to more posts!

      1. Thank you! I hope other people will find what I wrote interesting or useful, but a lot of it really is for my own notes.

‘Defence’ is actually correct in British English. The second is definitely a typo; thanks for catching it.

    1. Thanks for sharing and writing. I think the word you meant to use in paragraph 6 is “litigation,” but–as a lawyer–I think the proper word would be “prosecution” as in “criminal prosecution.” I look forward to reading more!

  6. Hey everyone! I’d love to know your thoughts on my latest post, “Is Liberty Dead?”https://sherinaspeaks.wordpress.com/2017/04/01/is-liberty-dead/

I am happy to check out your posts in return 🙂

    1. Enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing and writing. A small suggestion. You wrote:

“Equality is another word that has changed drastically; because while America’s founding fathers held the self-evident truth that all men are created equal, many of the words, actions, and policies of Trump’s administration are at direct odds with the very notion of equality.”

I would change the semicolon to a period, then delete “because” and start the new, next sentence “While America’s . . .” I think that would tighten it up and make your point more powerful. Finally, I would change the phrase “the words, actions, and policies . . . are at direct odds” to “the words, actions, and policies . . . are directly at odds . . .”

  7. Hi everyone. I write a tennis blog from a lighthearted perspective (you don’t need to know about tennis to understand the blog). Or, at least that’s my goal. I’m trying to write so even my best friend would be able to follow along…she knows nothing about tennis.

Please take a read and give feedback. And follow if you like what you saw. Thanks. https://fraziersracket.wordpress.com/2017/04/01/be-still-my-beating-heart/?frame-nonce=5d610b50c9
