Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  3. Hey there, fellow bloggers!
This past Monday I wrote a post about the feeling of being home. It’s an introspective look into this idea, and it’s one that I believe resonates with many of us.

    Home

I’d love for you to read it and let me know what you think. I want to get better at this whole writing thing so I’d love advice.
I also would love to see what you’ve been doing! I enjoy being exposed to many new blogs!
    Thanks,

    1. Here is your text, edited for grammar/spelling, and with a few style changes for clarity. Accept what you like, ignore the rest. This is a really interesting and important topic; continue to spread the word!

According to the following websites the myth of absent black fathers is a lie! So you mean to tell me there are more brothers taking care of their responsibilities than the media lets on?!?

      *Shocked look*

If we are going by these numbers (say they hold some truth) then it kills one myth but gives birth to another! Are we being too free with the sex stick and spreading our seeds, then waiting until our later years to settle down?

Hell I’m not sure! Guess I must continue to research this subject.

      GREAT. More fu*cking reading!

(not sure if you meant f*cking. it’s pretty funny the way it is.)

    1. Your post was informative. I prefer the plain Kombucha with no added sugar. I didn’t realize supermarkets were beginning to carry it. I’ll have to look. BTW I noticed you have many tags on the post. The WordPress Reader only includes posts with 15 or fewer tags + categories. https://gracelead.co

    1. Your photos are lovely, a highlight of the post. However, your writing style adds a lot of details that may not interest readers. Perhaps you could change some of the time line to describe the food, the people, the overall atomsphere, etc. Also, it might help to put the photos in a slideshow so the text doesn’t have to weave itself around them.
Good luck with your blog and happy trails!

    1. Your post has some wonderful imagery, especially with the quote about dying beautifully in the fall. Maybe you could add personal experiences in the season to bring it to life even more. A picture of two more would add life as well.
In terms of your blog, since you like autumn, you could have those colors as the basis for your color scheme. As a whole, they’re vibrant, warm, and inviting, and they’ll help get rid of the white space.
      Good luck!

    1. I love the questions about the curse. Not only does it force readers to rethink their perspective on tasks, but it could also help them in choosing which ones are more important versus which ones can be left by the wayside.
Perhaps you could also post your thoughts on the questions as well to give a start to each discussion.
Good luck with your new blog!

    1. The mistakes I saw most often were your subject/verb agreement errors which are small and easy to fix. For instance, “wish you was here” should be “wish you were here”, “there’s been tears” should be “there have been tears” and so forth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions as English is a tough language to learn.
Keep writing, and your English will improve!

    1. At first I didn’t see the relation to the images, but I realized I missed something in the text and went back to look. It’s a fantastic book cover! You did an excellent job with the design in keeping with the timeline, so keep up the good work!
      Happy designing!
