Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. I finished this journal entry [https://oncetheylived.wordpress.com/2017/03/24/number-eight-inhibiting-empathy-with-excessive-self-focus/] on the weekend… It is my analysis of why I find myself lacking empathy for others and why comparing myself is not helpful.
I’d love to hear what you think about the topic, did I miss anything?
Also, I’d love to hear feedback on the rest of my blog! Thanks xo

    1. Hey bro,

Maybe before you start berating your fellow Millennials you should spell check your posts.
      I particularly enjoyed the numerous orgasm/organism mix-ups.

    1. Great poem but would be better if the end of each line rhymed with one another.
The section about power and morals should be left alone because it is a great section.

If you can get everything else rhyming then it will be brilliant.

      1. However, I would like to highlight that the deliberate obliteration of rhyme is to bring out the oddity of it, drawing a parallel to the drawbacks of a plague and of a disease, where we lose control of our routined selves and whatever conditioning we are accustomed to.

But thank you for your input nonetheless!

    2. Hey,
Just had a read of your poem, and I have to say, I completely disagree with the two other comments here that say that rhyming would make it better. I think the best poems don’t need rhyme schemes to get to the reader (and at times, I think it can even be a bit childish!). I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, ‘are we pluming mindlessly’ is my favourite phrase…. Well done!!!

I’d be so grateful if you could check out my blog and tell me what you think (nowhere near as creative or beautiful as yours I have to say)… I hope you enjoy!

      1. Hey there (syncopated blogger!),

I am absolutely heartened by what you have expressed above and I must say: Yes thank you! rhymes are not an essential part of poetry but the inclusion of it could make reading so much easier and joyous. That being said, the exclusion of it should never make a poem seem less worthy or unpoetic. 🙂

I have read yours and must say your thoughts are written with brevity but with an intention strongly put forward. I love reading your analysis of seemingly normal things, turning things around with the unravelling of your own philosophies.

    1. Hey! Very thought provoking post. I’ve said more than once in my own posts that “This is a topic that deserves all the words we can get our hands on.” Very interesting perspective on the importance of integrity and our words. I’ll be sure to check back to your blog again!

    1. Absolutely LOVE your photography! 🙂 I think you would benefit from a portfolio-based theme! That way we can immediately see your photos on your home page and then click on a post to see more photos from that series. Maybe try Orvis or Illustratr. Good luck!
