Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. So, my son’s name is Reese. I made these peanut butter cup substitutes (because of his dietary restrictions) for him and his sister (who is also allergic to peanuts). Do you think that calling them Lennox and Reese’s SunButter Cups is a little too close to trademark issues? foodallergydad.wordpress.com/sunbutter-cups
    Thanks!

  2. Great post! Sometimes it’s hard to come up with that one “perfect” word. That’s when I pull out my thesaurus so I’m glad you mentioned that. Thanks for your insights. 🙂

  3. Hello all!
My fiction blog has been up for 6 weeks now and I’ve begun a serialized sci-fi/fantasy epic based entirely on writing prompts from the blogosphere. I’d love some feedback on whether or not the story is holding up in the flash fiction format.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and I hope you enjoy it!

  4. Hello!
I’m a 15 year old who enjoys writing and photography. Here’s a link to my post which is dedicated to all who feel left out and can’t fit in. Society lays many norms which we can’t follow forever, its our individuality that matters. Please give it a read and if you liked it, maybe give me a follow? Cuz I’m at 194.. Few more for 200!

  5. Hi Fellow bloggers,

I have posted something interesting in the form of a virtual coffee date with an old friend. It is something new I tried which I have not even heard of earlier.

This is posted as part of the everyday inspiration day eleven.
Do read it and let me know your feedback,

Day Eleven: A Cup of Coffee

    Thank you

    1. I like the idea of a virtual coffee date. For me it would read better if you spoke directly to the person rather than continuing to say “if we were having coffee right now.” For example, here’s how the first paragraph would look:
“If we were having coffee right now, here’s what I would say. I’ve moved to a new city. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people at the office and home. I like the new city as it gives me a new hope of change in life. Another advantage is that I am closer to my family. Before moving, I had to plan a special trip to visit my family. That meant I could not often meet them. Now in this city, I can go to home any day I want.”

  6. Pursuing Podcasts

I LOVE good storytelling and great podcasts tell stories. I want to share that by shining a light on podcast episodes that startled, challenged, taught me. I want to connect with folks who love good stories AND to introduce podcasts to folks who aren’t dialed in…yet. Here’s my post called “9-Volt Nirvana” from RadioLab. Would you juice your brain?

I’d love feedback about the post and the general layout of my blog. Improvements? What works? Doesn’t? Any comments posted directly on the blog would also be great. I’ll take a look at your blog, too. Thanks!

Fun seeing what everyone is up to!

  7. Hi Fellow Bloggers! I am looking for new and inventive ways to enter purchase links for books I am reviewing in order for my blog to look more professional. Currently, I post a link to Amazon with a note that says click here to purchase, but it looks so amateur. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated! I posted a link to my blog below so that you can get an idea of how I am currently posting this information to my followers. Thanks!
