Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Your blog is well organized and your posts are super successful! I love reading non-fiction, especially when the book has come recommended to me. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading more of your reviews!

    1. Your blog is very pretty. The content is definitely heart-felt. You do a nice job of inviting others to share their stories and thoughts. Consider adding the “Read more” tool to your stories. It allows your readers to scroll through your content more easily.

      1. Thank you so much! I did consider the “Read more” tool but I was trying to see if there was a way to chose where the entry stops. I’m still trying to figure out the set up and the themes. If you have any tips please feel free to share! Thank you so much again! I love to hear that my blog is inviting. That has been exactly my goal!

      2. I usually add the “Read more” after a first paragraph or two OR when there is a cliff-hanger expression (I flatter myself with the idea that people are hanging on my every word) 😉 I too always hope to present an approachable feel to my posts. So I appreciate your success.

      3. I also love the Positivity that you present on your page. Its very inspiring. I like how your entries have the option to click “Continue reading.” Does that depend on the theme or is there a way to have that option instead of it saying Read more… Also how do you chose where the “read more..” starts?

  2. Hiya everyone! I started my blog a couple of months ago because I wanted to improve my writing and develop a style. My posts are really mixed, and my blog doesn’t have a theme to it or anything- I’ve written about makeup, food, cinema, lifestyle and travel so far, and have ideas for outfit and art posts. It’s a real mixed bag, and I’ve just been writing about anything I’ve got ideas on.

I’d really appreciate any feedback, because at the moment, I’m just taking everything in my stride while trying to figure out what the heck I’m doing! I’m always open to criticism and any advice, so please check out my blog and let me know what you think (good or bad- please don’t hold back, I just want to improve!).

    Thank you ❤

    1. I really like your style but I think the theme is a bit harsh for the eyes. White letters on black is kind of difficult to read. Pictures are great and everything but if you could only change your background a little, it would be perfect!

  3. I’d like to invite everyone to stop by and check out my recent flash fiction story, “In the Grave.” It’s horror, but not horror. A dark theme, with an unsettling conclusion at the end. I found a free use image, and used it as the basis for some cover art to go along with the story. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page as well. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

    1. Your blog has really positive energy and terrific potential!
      1. The posts with links or lists of helpful tips were most helpful
      2. Consider adding a sidebar menu to break up the screen a bit
      3. More lists or breakdown of specific, helpful practices will be great content
      4. I’m eager to read more!

  6. I really like how you include so many images in your posts. It is very appealing to the eye. Consider writing what you to get those great images with your point and shoot camera. There are a lot of people out there with the same issues. Nice work!

  7. I’d like to invite everyone to stop by and check out my photograph, “The Dawn of Spring 2017.” It’s a landscape shot of the natural world. A pasture on a hiking trail, with a few cows scattered around in the background. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page as well. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello, fellow blogging friends! I participated in my first ever guest blog this weekend.
I have written a back story for it, with the link at the bottom. If you have time for a bogo, please give them both a read, and let me know what you think. I do follow anyone that follows my blog, and would love to add some new friends also! 🙂

    1. Great post Tish! I really enjoyed it! There have been a couple of bosses I have told to fuck off too. It’s amazing how much that can settle a person down. To this day I still keep in touch with one of those bosses lol!

      1. I knew I was not the only person to ever swear at a supervisor, and get away with it because it was justified. I have my limits, and when I reach them, it comes out in one of two ways. I either have trouble talking and my throat physically closes so that I can’t speak; (which frustrates me even more), or I blow my top. I have a lot of patience, and it takes me a lot to get to that point, but when I do, it is for a darn good reason. Thanks for reading!

  9. Good evening Beautiful Bloggers,

I have been sitting on my posts for the past week or so and would love some honest feedback on my segment to be continued the first of April.

The topic may be a little sensitive for some, but my hopes were to create a safe place for blogging and to spark conversation for some of those living through similar situations.
