Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. I’m definitely going to give your posts a read & you have my follow – looks like we have a number of similar interests. That’s fascinating about the use-by dates, though I have to admit I don’t give them toooo much consideration, either.

    1. Commented on your site! Can’t wait to read your Thursday post. As you can imagine, we love all things nostalgic 😉 You’ll have to check out our Music Monday series – we accept reader submissions – you could reminisce about all the music you loved as a kid, too!

  4. Hi everyone and Happy Monday!

Our newest post is on our favorite travel deal. We’ve been active for almost 3 months and are really working hard to grow our traffic but I feel like we’re falling short. We really can’t seem to get any email subscribers. Could you check out our most recent post and give us some constructive feedback please? Anything we need to change, add, etc. would be much appreciated, for this post or any others! Thanks for all your help!

  5. Hello Bloggers!!! 🙂

On my page Uki’s Kingdom, I recently started a new Story called “JANET AND THE WŪN.” It is science fiction and I would love for everyone to check it out and give me some feedback. I did some experimenting with colors in the story-line and I was ringtone how it worked. 🙂

I love giving AND receiving feedback so… comment away!!! 🙂

    1. I read part one of Janet and the Wun. It was interesting and flowed well. What are you trying to achieve with the different-colored words? If they will be key words throughout the story, then I think it’s a good experiment to try. My eyesight is not strong and the gray background was a bit too dark for me to easily read the text. If there’s a way to make it a shade lighter that would help. https://gracelead.co

  6. Looking for some content feedback on my latest post, any and all commentary is appreciated:

Though I’m not quite aspiring to minimalism, what does it mean to be a woman taking a stand to effectively take up less space – striving to use fewer things, live in smaller homes, have smaller physical footprints – in a society that teaches women to shrink themselves (body, mind, voice)?

    Taking Space, Making Space

Also, I’m looking to follow more similar/likeminded blogs on consumption/consumerism etc, so let me know if your writing is in that vein. I’d love to read what you’re thinking.

    1. I was thinking of touching on this a bit on my blog. I AM an aspiring minimalist, but I think that goes hand in hand with this. It won’t be all I post, but it’s a part of who I’m trying to be, so hopefully I will get to post on that a bit.

Hello fellow bloggers, I hope you all had a great weekend!

    1. I like the concept! You’re writing on good topics! You shoukd create a email follower widget so people can follow via email. It also looks like you have a text widget that is in need of some info in it! Looking good though overall!

    1. Also, in view of several spurious non-headlines in British newspapers here over the last couple of days I’m re-posting a link to a recent article, The Downfall of British Journalism. It’s my ‘take’ on Madeleine McCann and the way the case is reported in the media here in England. Please check it out if you are interested in the ‘World’s most famous missing child’! It’s just 500 words.

Also, I run a fortnightly 300 word writing group, details on my blog if you are interested. New members always welcome!

      1. Thanks and don’t worry, I only publish long posts once a week – the rest are usually quite short. Glad you liked Pedantic Romantic – that’s definitely one of my favourites 🙂

      1. Thanks! Sorry this response took me so long. I had to go back and actually check because it had been so long. 🙂
If you go to “my site” you can choose the option on the left side bar that says “themes” and click on “customize”. A new window is displayed and on the left hand side bar there is an option called “widgets”. You can place different types of widgets in different locations. Mine is located on the “sidebar” which is one of the options. It is just called the “follower button”. If you still need help, let me know and I’ll try to be more efficient in my explanation. 🙂

  10. Hello! I recently celebrated my 1 year WordPress anniversary – haha, hoping to celebrate a lot more in the coming years. So far, I’ve kept up with my promise to post more often – well, I try to do so every other day! These days most of my posts revolve around food reviews, but I do manage to sneak in travel and other stuff once in a while.

Feel free to check out my blog! 😁
