Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Your blog is beautiful and I love the layout. Very clean and eye-catching. I might suggest adding a “Follow by Email” widget to the sidebar so that people without a wordpress account can choose to follow you as well.

  1. Hey all! Hope you had a great weekend!
I write about how to become better bloggers and authors. I’m also looking to connect with other self published authors, especially in the fantasy and sci-fi genre.

Check out my blog here: https://thegoldenlands.wordpress.com/

I’m always looking for constructive criticism, and I hope you can take something away from my most recent posts on how to become a better writer!
If I can return the favor, let me know!

  2. Hello hello!

It’s Monday again. How did that happen so fast? The weekend needs an extra day, I think…

Have you ever done something just… eye-wateringly dumb on holidays? I just put up my first travel story showcasing just how stupid I can be when I really put my mind to it, and I’d love it if people would comment with a story of their own!

Hope everyone has a great week with minimum drama and an easy run through to Friday!

  3. Hi everyone! I’m tantalizingly close to finishing a new post that will be humor based, but for now, its another Monochrome Mondays…which is pretty much as it sounds! My other posts are about the connection between music and my own photographs. I pair a song together with my photos, something that fits the mood, weather, or atmosphere of the shot and write about the connection. Would appreciate any feedback on any of my work.

    1. Hacksaw Ridge and Fury; we have very similar tastes in movies. You’re totally right that Hollywood loves to mess with history. It’s such a shame when the true stories are incredible enough as they are xx

      1. Exactly! I saw the musical Evita the other week and it was exactly the same. Really entertaining, but historically all over the place. The problem is that then people get confused about what’s history and what’s embellishment. Doesn’t stop me watching historical Hollywood movies though 😉 xx

      2. I haven’t seen that one. I’ll have to check it out. I started researching every movie I saw that said based on a true story after I witnessed people argue facts based off of what they saw in the movie when those things never really happened. They just believed it because that’s what the movie said lol. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy watching part of history come to life, I just hate when they change so much.
In Hacksaw there were only a few changes. For instance, he never missed his wedding because he was locked up. He was never locked up in the first place. The movie didn’t take away what amazing things he did but it added a few things for drama and I just don’t think it was worth adding.

    1. I’ve only been blogging for a month but tried to use a scheduled system of when I would write and post and it ended up only working for the first post but I’m happy with the posts I ended up making so it all worked out.

    2. This is a really interesting post. I think it’s hard to plan your blogs in advance because blogging is such a personal medium. You never know what will inspire you to write in a given week 🙂 xx

    3. I hated trying to keep an calendar but all the “big bloggers” recommend it and if it lead to their success, surely it would lead to mine! Wrong! While some of my posts are “planned” It’s mostly because I know I’ll be reviewing a race I’ve run, otherwise I like that my posts have become insane, spur of the moment things. Helps keep the madness alive!

  6. Hello fellow readers,

The following blog will tend to rattle up your thoughts. Readers discretion is advised 😉

Just in case. If I say something stupid in the future, it’s better to be able to point out that the stupidity is mine, and mine alone. My stupidity! You can’t have it! 🙂

    1. Hi Elena, I really liked your post, so heartfelt yet relatable and approachable! I liked the layout, the structure, I would maybe keep it a bit shorter as unfortunately we live in a world where most people can’t focus that long! So sad but hey! Keep it up!
