Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello all!

Since Valentines Day was last week, I wrote about my feelings on holidays today. (I’m not a big fan of them, to be honest.)

On Thursday I’ll be writing about something I realized about my Spanish degree while working on my senior project.

In other news, it’s a wonderful 74 degrees F here today and I wish it would stay this way forever! Hope everyone has a good day!

    1. Dear Linda, I read some of your posts and liked them a lot. You are so honest and funny and I think you have many more to say. But if you feel short on ideas you can always make some in-depth on certain aspects of your story or theme that you are covering. I would suggest to keep posts not too long, it is easier to obtain interest. Congrats on good work you’re doing!

    2. Hey Linda! I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and I think it’s great. Your weight loss is really inspiring. Have you thought of posting more recipes and exercise tips? If you want to vary your content, you could start thinking about other things linked to weight loss. xxx

      1. Thank you! Thats a really great idea. I’ve been thinking of different things to add I just didn’t know how to go about doing it, but you’re right…I’m going to run out of things soon if I don’t mix it up a bit. Thank you for the suggestion and I will start on something! 🙂

  3. Hello All. This is Pinkspen and I write on behalf of all women. My site, LADYHOOD, is “for the high school girls thinking about college…for the freshman females learning themselves while on a college campus, for the “upper-classwomen” (Pinkspen) who have struggled with relationships and friendships on campus… for the teenage girl who is struggling to find her identity in this world…for the girls who feel like they are not pretty enough or smart enough to be everything they desire to be… for the transgender girl who wants equality…for mothers raising young daughters. This site is for all women who struggle with the daily challenges of being a girl in a male dominated society.” Please check out my latest post https://aladyhoodjourney.wordpress.com/2017/02/16/college-101-for-freshman-females-have-self-control-over-who-you-let-in-your-bed/ This is one of about 3 posts targeted toward freshman females, to prevent them from making similar mistakes I made when i was in college. IT IS A MUST READ! Please Like, Share, and always Comment, I would love your feedback!

    1. Hi! Your first post does a phenomenal job of communicating why your blogging. 😊👊 You will however need to include tags in your posts to make sure your visible to your desired audience. For instance, your first post could include tags like “blog”, “blogging”, “life” and other themes that relate to message – make sure you keep them between 5 and 15 to stay visible. You can do this under “categories and tags” before you publish. Good luck!

    2. I like Personal blogs not sure what it is about them, maybe its the journey of the person that I like to read about, The amount of times Ive tried this style myself and then deleted all the posts to try again numbers in the dozens.

Anyway on your blog, I really liked the image you used on your first post, I like visuals to that is the 1st thing I look for, I would however create more paragraphs, even though not overly long the first post is a block of text.

Also consider entering something under your about page, at the moment there is the generic wordpress message.

I am viewing this on a slow, old ipad so cannot really explore through the rest of your site at the moment.

  5. In my latest blog, a walk up the heather-clad flanks of Harter Fell in the English Lake District sets in motion a train of thought about the indigenous herdwick mountain sheep and how they were nearly wiped out by foot and mouth disease. Recollections of those dark days in 2001 turn into a tribute to the remarkable men and women who brought this iconic breed back from the brink.

It was a terrible year for the county but I think it’s a story worth retelling. I hope I do them justice.

  6. Greetings. I suffered from a bad depressive episode this week and turned my pain into a poem. I just wanted to share with those who may not understand what it is like for those of us who suffer… or for those who can relate to know that you aren’t alone.
I would love to hear what you think.

  7. Hello! I wrote a bit about things I’ve learned about my home (Ireland) from having been abroad…. It’s strange the things you don’t notice until you travel to other places!

    Anyone had this experience?

      1. Thanks! Haha you should definitely visit. I feel like I didn’t give enough information but I didn’t want to make the post too long… I might write more about Ireland at a later date! It’s a lovely place despite the rain!

      1. I absolutely love Madrid! It’s such an energetic city. How often do you get over there? And I was living in Alcalá de Henares actually, do you know it?

    1. I enjoyed that post, but I found myself clicking the what to do when you feel like giving up post. I have been dealing with some minor depression lately (mostly due to job dissatisfaction) and I enjoyed reading this for the reminder of keeping things in perspective. Well done, and I gave you a follow to keep up with your other posts.

  8. Hi guys!

My blog is essentially about my thoughts on everything and anything. From train compartments to rabbit holes. I think is about all the little things in life and how they actually mean a lot more than the big things that are few and far in between.

Blogging has helped me overcome the highs and lows that go with bipolar disorder. Sometimes I’ve used the blog to describe exactly what I feel during these phases. Something that I feel helps me not only to get a hold of my emotions but also channels them in a direction that is often gratifying.

It is a fairly new blog so I was wondering if you could help me out with a little feedback:

    2. I really loved it! I like posts like this one cause they make me think, ask myself about something and it’s trully a gift, to be able to make people think! Personally, I feel like gratitude is a powerful tool to achieve all of your goals and make life be the best version of itself) sadly, I don’t thank the Universe for everything I have that often, but I will now. So thank you! 🤗😊
