Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Congratulations on your first English post. I enjoyed the story about your sister’s diary. Here are a couple of edits: “to got close to English” should be “to get close to English.” and “started to found out the meaning” should be “started to find out the meaning.” English is not an easy language. You might try a free version of one of the proofreading apps such as hemingwayapp.com Apps won’t catch everything, but they can help. https://gracelead.co

    1. The ideas in your post are intersting. In some places, it’s difficult to read because of long, awkward sentences. One example is the second paragraph in Chain of Events. It’s all one sentence. Here’s a simplified version: “Having suppressed feelings such as being wronged, deprived, disrespected, neglected or rejected can cause a plethora of negative emotions such as depression, stress, fear, sadness, or shame. To vent or relieve those unresolved negative emotions, we turn to unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, eating junk food, drinking alcohol, drug abuse, over working and gambling.” https://gracelead.co

    1. It’s a lovely way to think about one’s soul with a wonderful image to accompany it. However, the repetition gets to be a little distracting, and the blocks of text might need some breaking up. Also, it might do you well to personify the soul more, almost like a character with a story to tell. Perhaps bits of fiction could do well here.
      Keep up the good work!

  3. Hey! I’ve just written a new post and would love some feedback. Also, all my posts so far have been ‘portfolio pages’ – does this mean that they and there tags wont show up in the reader?

    1. They should show up in the Reader. To check, put a tag in the Reader that matches one of the tags on your most recent portfolio post. Scroll through what it returns to see if your post shows up. Note: You may have to scroll a lot if it’s a popular tag and people have done lots of posts since yours. https://gracelead.co

    1. This was a wonderful story to inspire others to take control of their lives and their bodies, even before they hit the scary phase. I’m glad it’s turning out well, and I wish Megan the best of luck achieving the rest of the goal.
      Keep up the fantastic work!

  4. Hi everyone! I’m a new blogger that started on WordPress just over a month ago. I’ve read up on a few blog posts, books on how to start up a blog and drive traffic to them and YouTube videos, and at the moment I’m not quite sure what category to place my blog under. If anyone could give me any feedback on what type of blog you think it is whether it’s lifestyle, beauty, etc. because my blog spans over several topics and I’m not quite sure how to place my blog into a certain category of blog, I’d be very grateful for any help!

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Hello, Jenny! Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about placing your blog in a specific category since you cover a lot. If need be, I’d say it cover lifestyle in general. Also, your title might need some reworking as it is quite a mouthful when it runs together. Your blog might do well with some more color to make everything pop out as well. Experiment and explore to find what works for you.
I wish you the best of luck!
