Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Tell your cousin to keep writing, and maybe she can make a career out of it someday. I wish both of the best of luck!
      Happy blogging!

  1. Hey everyone! I am new to this whole blogging world and am really beginning to enjoy this experience. Sometimes it just feels like there is so much to explore and it can become overwhelming. Anyone have suggestions for sorting and finding really blogs that fit your interest? Would love to begin to connect and receive advice from a larger community. Here is my blog if you are interested in connecting: https://paigezine.blog/

would love to hear what you all have to say!

    1. You have a nice mix of media: photos and text. The only suggestions I can give as far as blogging is to try anything that peeks your interest. Branch out from there and make a wide variety of content. Also, be sure to keep organized so readers don’t get lost trying to find the content they enjoy.
I wish you the best of luck!

      1. Of course! It’ll make everyone’s lives easier knowing how to get around. Plus it makes everything look cleaner.
        Good luck!

    2. Your blog is beautiful, writing is top quality and the pictures you have chosen are beautiful. I read your article which had tips for new bloggers and the advice looks great! Maybe you could look at my blog and gallery and tell me what you think? (I started blogging about 3 weeks ago) Thanks!

  2. Hello all,
So this is where I ask the awkward question of, “how do I look?” Take a peek at my blog and let me know what I should do to tweak the look and make it better. There are no dumb opinions! I can’t wait to hear from you.

    1. Try organizing the posts on the home page because it seems like a cluster with no general direction. Also, you might want to work on titles so they don’t seem like click bait or advertisements. You can keep spreading out from your interests to post a range of content to hit different audiences as well.
      Good luck with your blog!

  3. Hello again! At paminat0r’s suggestion, I added a couple new settings to the bank, so stop by to check those out. The City Street and Shopping Mall are now open to the general public!

Feel free to leave feedback and ideas! Also, I added a contact form under the Ink Drops menu at thegirlwiththecamera’s suggestion, so feel free to use it!

    Happy reading!

    1. I like the content on your About post. You could create an About page and copy and paste the content from this post to it. That way, once your site has several posts, a new visitor can easily find your About information. I see that you have your Categories displayed. That’s good. I’m guessing they will eventually include Book Reviews, Travel Stories, Photos, My Opinions. https://gracelead.co

  4. Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a wonderful February!

I changed my theme and the fonts, but I don’t think the fonts are showing up on mobile. Can you check on your mobile devices? Also, can you see if the logo gets in the way of the header title on your device? It looks great on computer, but sometimes CSS makes a mess of the mobile theme.

    Thanks!

  5. Hello everybody. I posted near the beginning of this thread (the 11th one on page one) about a post I published a few days ago, Having a Laff, ‘20 short excerpts from the humorous side of my blog’, and also about a story group I run. Please check that post out if you might be interested in either of those. The stories in HAL are mainly just 100/200 words.

In the meantime here’s a link to a story published today, Don’t Know What to Write? (800 words), one man’s answer to the problem of Wrtiter’s Block!

    1. I enjoyed your post. Just as I was thinking, “why doesn’t he write about something food related?” you revealed the idea of writing about chefs. It seems like a good match for you. BTW, should “stream of conciseness” be “stream of consciousness”? https://gracelead.co

    1. Hello! We checked your account to see what happened there, and we saw that all Blogging U. emails were properly sent from our system to the email address you have on file with us. One common reason for this to happen is that your emails automatically places these emails in a folder that’s not your inbox, for example — in Gmail, look at your “Social” and “Promotions” folders. It’s highly likely these emails are “hiding” there.

    1. The theme and font are easy enough to read, but the color might be better brightened up to be more relaxing. The typist font and the dark color give a working, almost stressful vibe, so I think it’d be better with a light color and perhaps prettier font.
Experiment with many combinations to find one that works best. Good luck and happy blogging!

    2. I wish I could help but I’m really bad at knowing what looks good in terms of colors and themes. Can I give you a readers opinion? The color looks good to me but I don’t like those big tittle letters. They’re too big and ugly. They look aggressive.

    1. I was looking forward to reading about The Sound of Music, my all time favorite, as it deals with Nazi Germany. While the post itself didn’t mention it, I’m glad the readers did. For a nonsensical sort of historical view, you could turn to Mary Poppins as well given the sequel that’s coming next year. Maybe in another post…
      Happy writing!

  6. Hi everyone. I just posted a new page on my site. (What I’m Reading)
I was wondering if any of you do that and if so what you’re suggestions would be to make it better. I’m still relatively new to the blogging world but if you want me to I will look at you’re blog and tell you anything I notice in return.

    Have a good day.

      1. Awww. That was sweet. You are the one doing all the work, I’m just tossing out ideas. Here are a few more: riding the subway, walking up the stairs inside the Statue of Liberty, visiting an art gallery, a city park after an ice storm. https://gracelead.co
