To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. I haven’t posted my first blog post just yet planning to launch Monday the 13th but have everything set up with categories and what will be going on in that category in the future. I am excited to be apart of the first Friday and get to see other new bloggers along the way!

  2. Evening guys and girls,
I am a real newbie when it comes to blogging, having only written my first Saturday night just passed. It is a letter about breastfeeding from a mans perspective (my humble perspective), and I would be grateful for readers.

    Thanks all

  3. Hi! I just posted my very first posts yesterday and today 🙂 I know it’s pretty stereotypical, but I really just want to use my blog as a creative outlet (mostly lighthearted) and talk about whatever’s on my mind. I’d like to explore some new media outlets (books, movies, tv, podcasts, music) that I would normally avoid and talk about their impact. I also love travel and photography and want to incorporate my experiences wherever I can. I’d really appreciate any feedback possible! Thanks 🙂

  4. I have few questions about sharing posts to social media especially to Facebook, twitter, G+, pinterest.

Searching in net I have found there are so many social sites and they are serious and knowledgeable.

My Facebook experience is not good, there is single point programme that you build page and advert with them, if you do not do this your account will be disabled bringing stereo typed allegations on you.

Twitter is a boring, I had opened my account but no one follow me and I did not follow anyone.

People do blogging to express knowledge, own experience and many more things. I think there should not be framed in specific parameter as you do follow, you do like or you do share. It would be the duty of those social site even your WordPress platform to spread all posts among the members so that every user can get handsome visitors every day.

My first day in WordPress was good buy cannot upload image, took long time to upload, so I deleted the image and published my texts in this URL http://bestt17.wordpress.com

    1. Hello. I find that if I link my social media accounts (for example, sign into your facebook from wordpress and your posts will be automatically shared) that it is easier for me.
In regards to followers on twitter and other sites, if you interact with people and follow them, people will start to follow you back.

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://aldon137.wordpress.com/

Also, I noticed that your blog’s home page has lots of placeholder text on it. You can find your theme’s details here: https://wordpress.com/themes/harmonic — it’ll help you learn to customize and configure all the parts of your home page.

  6. I’ve just figured out that the blogger world is wonderful. It’s exciting to see passionate communicators everywhere! My new blog is for tired people like me who are seeking a place to rethink life’s challenges. My first post is on boredom struggles! Let’s talk about that! (Confession time. I have two posts on the blog now, but I think you will forgive that as I have just now seen there is so much opportunity to share over here! You’re the sweetest!) http://www.restedkingdom.com/2017/01/14/boredom-battles-chronically-selfish/

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s footer, at the bottom — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. Welcome!

One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.
