To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi, Jack! (Good thing we’re not on a plane.) You have a good start. I’m sure you’re still playing around with things so: you might want to include a “like” button because sometimes while people might not have anything to comment, they still want you to know they read/liked. Also, there are default bits like the “about” page that have the default messages.
      Good luck and welcome! 🙂

      1. I’m with you here! You think the easiest part is writing the “About Me” page because really, who knows you more than you yourself…but actually it’s hard. So congrats on making that milestone now 🌻 and welcome to the blogging world!

    1. It sounds like you’ve not only started a new blog, but a new adventure as well. Your blog looks great. I can see why you would take people to Franconia: it looks creative and peaceful. Best wishes on your new adventure in England!

  1. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

    1. I’m a new blogger, my first post was with the new year (just under 1 month ago) I shared my blog here, checked out a few others that had been posted, left some comments. I got a couple comments on my post before I went to sleep, but when I woke up, my post had been deleted! I was really excited for this opportunity to share with new bloggers, and I feel like I was specifically excluded…

      1. You definitely were not targeted; while moderating the comments to remove those from older blogs or which otherwise didn’t follow the guidelines here, yours was removed because it looked like an advertisement rather than a comment (and when the original comment is removed, the replies are removed as well). Please feel free to re-share your link!

      2. I wrote up an intro for my blog, considering that this a place to share our blogs for feedback, I figured that was appropriate… I would have changed my comment had you told me what I did wrong, but it is kinda late now to get feedback from the first friday crowd. I was really nervous about putting my work out there publicly, I dedicated to postaday content but even my ‘friends’ won’t follow my blog, and now I feel like I’m not welcome in the wordpress community at all…

      3. I’m glad that you’ve posted your link again; please share in next Friday’s thread as well. Your blog will be more than a month old at that point, but I’ll make sure your comment doesn’t get removed.

    1. Hello Lucy! Read your first blog and you seem entertaining. I look forward to reading what you have to say. I have a long line of Scottish ancestry so that was a cool surprise to find where you’re from!

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, on the right — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

      1. I am still customizing my page and thank you so much for the help. But I really don’t want a sidebar. Is there any way I remove it?

      2. The theme you’re using right now, Goran, will always have a sidebar on the blog page. If you don’t want a sidebar, you’ll want to look for a theme that either doesn’t have one, or has one that disappears if you add no widgets.

  3. Hello.

Hello! I just started my blog 1 week ago, and I’m really hoping for some feedback! I will be posting about my travels around the globe, as well as rights issues that I adamant about. If you enjoy these types of things, I’d love it if you could check out my page!

    1. Sweet… I love checking out new recipes and know a lot of people around here do too, so you’ll be right at home. The question is…what happens when you turn 20? Nice, tidy blog. Keep it up!

      1. Thank you so much 🙂 As an older sister, “The Teen Queen” is about conquering the teenage years. I use my blog as a guide for young people to express their creativity through my own experiences and so the name of the blog only indicates the experience I have of the teenage years and not my actual age. I hope that answers your question!

    2. Really nice, simplistic, but still pact with information. you’ve created a really inviting tone.
if i had any suggestion, it would be a picture of the finished product, or something like that, but that might just be me.
      look forward to reading more.
