The place for feedback, advice, and camaraderie.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

Hello everyone! Here is my latest post where I give my critique on recent world events. https://crystalblue28blog.wordpress.com/2017/01/22/respect/
In addition to some feedback on my writing, I would really appreciate some feedback on my site’s design. I have a terrible eye for color and design so I would love some suggestions for changes (such as change in background color etc.). Thanks and have a great day everyone!

Hey Adelina ,your 2016 lessons were really motivating but one suggestion regarding that exitement part-Exitement is very much needed in our life so don’t worry about the result and do it with full enthusiasm but yes there should be a controlled outer version of exitement which you can surely follow.

I’m a reader, but I found myself skipping the bits in normal text and just reading the bold text.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Thank you! I did that because I cross post with Medium where small info bits do really well… I’ll keep that in mind!

Your post here has a lot of likes already – it may be that the bold type helps people skim read to the end and they get the main thrust of what you’re saying so that could end up being a good thing. One idea would be to make a habit of reading just the bold type to see what impression it gives when read on its own. Perhaps you’re already doing this?

That’s a great compromise! Thanks!

I’ve never used Medium – how would you characterise the community you have there? I prefer WordPress to Facebook or Twitter because the people here are almost invariably kind and supportive.

Medium I’ve found is great for finding people who share your content. But they seem to lack the support of WordPress users. I use my Facebook business page to share my WordPress hosted articles. Medium also lacks the analytics that other platforms provide!

I’m sorry to hear about your bad experiences and hope you’ll come to enjoy having a completely fresh start. My tips are: tag and categorise your posts so people can find them in their Readers; take part in some of the challenges and blogging events you’ll see going on around you; follow some people writing on subjects you’re writing on too and learn from them; spend half your blogging time reading other people’s posts; like any posts that you genuinely enjoy or that tell you something new and comment thoughtfully when you have something to say.

So I’m guessing that Clarke and Rowls are your last names (or nicknames?)because you introduce your first names in your About page. I think you should perhaps make that more clear, especially since you have Clarke and Rowls as categories. Perhaps your should also introduce yourselves a bit more so people can get to know you individually (again, this ties to the separate categories).
Happy Blogging!

Gave you a follow because I loved the look to your blog. Your layout definitely fits the overall mood you present. I was wondering if you might have too large a tag cloud? I’ve experimented with mine. I used to have a lot then I trimmed it down substantially. Obviously if its working don’t fix it!
LikeLiked by 4 people
Thanks! I recently switched up a bit of the layout to better suit my readers. I noticed that as well, but I’m uncertain as to how to change that. When I use tags it sorts of saves them. Any idea on how I could change that? It would be greatly appreciated!
LikeLiked by 2 people
There may be other ways, but when I make adjustments I go to WP Admin/Appearance/Widgets. From there if you go to Tag Cloud, you can reduce the total number that show up on the page, and also manually type in ones you want to exclude. Every once in awhile I go in and trim those out when they aren’t as important to the main ones I need like ‘Music’ Photography, etc. Hope that makes sense.

Hello! The Community Pool is for sharing one, maybe a couple of links — so I’ve removed several of the ones you included in your comment (the large number of links is why the comment got stuck in moderation; our software suspects that multi-link comments might be spam). The idea is that people who visit your blog and enjoy your posts will explore more of them organically, so it’s best to share either your very latest or something you’re particularly keen to get feedback on. Thanks!
