The place for feedback, advice, and conversations about blogging.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

Your latest post was informative and the topic was interesting. It would be easier to read with improvement to grammar and sentence structure. For instance, here is an edited version of your first sentence. “The black box in an aircraft records all of the data in the aircraft cockpit as well as ground communications. It helps the investigator discover how the aircraft crashed and why.” https://gracelead.co

I don’t think it’s boring. You include images and your writing reflects your personality. It might help to include maybe some anecdotes. Like, instead of just telling us that you hung out with your awesome friend, pick out one of the best moments from that day and write out what happened in that moment, including what people said and how you were feeling in that moment. Kind of like an excerpt from a book?

Hello. Though I have been a blogger here for awhile a new year a new more passionate me! I have decided to change my blog name and start over. Though my old blog had a good following I need to do this. It would mean SOOO much if I could get support. It can be discouraging starting over with a lot less followers. I want my voice to be heard on all things natural, organic and inspirational.

Hey! I checked out your blog, and think it would be helpful if you wrote up something for your “about” page to help your readers get to know you. Looks like you have a lot of that if your first post already, so it may just be a matter of copy and paste. Best of luck (:

Thank you! Already took your advice and moved first post to about page. And plan to work even more on my about page. Thank you so much for following my blog!

One more thing – I think there’s a setting somewhere to change your default blog, since it sounds like you recently started a new one using the same account. If you change your new one to the default, when you post in comments and stuff, that will be the one that shows up under your name (right now canvasofthoughts1 is what shows).

Hello all fellow blog posters!
I’ve been working on my blog since August, but have seen my readership go the opposite direction as I had hoped.
One current blog post, Temporarily Permanent (http://smudgedblog.com/2017/01/05/temporarily-permanent ) seems to be nearly invisible!
I’m wondering if it’s content is just not read-worthy, or if it’s timing.
Can you please take a moment to read this particular blog post (and if any others strike your fancy, you are welcomed to partake of those as well!), and let me know how I can improve/change, for the sake of growing an audience.
Thank you and have a blessed day!

I read through a few of your posts and I have to say that while they are well written, they don’t give off any sense of who you are. I think what makes a blog engaging is a sense that you can get to know the person behind the words. Your posts seem very general, (or intentionally anonymous, perhaps?), and while I can understand you may want an anonymous venue to share your thoughts, I think you are missing out on the relatability aspect that comes from exposing yourself to your readership.
On a more technical thought – a few of your posts are displaying in a font that is not easy to read. So maybe try just changing the font first and you might find more people sticking around. Good luck!

Jackie: thank you! I have struggled with the font issue… can you let me know one or two post names that are in the “hard to read” font so I have a point of reference? Also, yes, I guess my identity is a bit cryptic – safety reasons… But I will work on that!
Again, thank you for your time and assistance!

Sure thing – I noticed it when reading “Finding Humanity in Winter” – the font is really hard on the eyes. Especially when your posts are long and not broken up with any images that’s asking a lot from your readers.
My general advice is don’t stress about your statistics. That kindof stuff can make anyone crazy. Write your blog for you, make it a portfolio of writing you’re proud of, and the rest will happen in time. Maybe spend some time looking for other bloggers you relate to and follow them. They might be doing things that you could pick up on.

I thoroughly enjoyed your post. When I saw the top photo, I couldn’t tell if it was scary or hysterical 🙂 I agree that it’s about simply sharing our faith story. One of our pastors likes to say, “Be friendly without being creepy.” Pretending you are perfect doesn’t help. Some of us are weird, but if we are kind and sincere, it may earn us an open ear when we tell our story. https://gracelead.co
