Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and conversations about blogging.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hi guys,

Have you ever fallen in love with a narcissist? Please come read my newest blog where I tell a portion of my painful story about falling in love with a narcissist. =( Please guys, leave me as much feedback and advice as you can. I could use all the words of wisdom right now, even constructive feedback. Thank you in advance for your time. ❤

    1. I like your advice about reading the words of people that will pull us up rather than push us down. I did notice a few grammar issues. For example: “my readers who has abandoned their dreams and lost all hopes” should be “my readers who have abandoned their dreams and lost all hope” https://gracelead.co

  2. Hi, there…Truly here. If you think you’d be interested, you can read my latest post (Jan 12/17) “Ebony and Irony”.
For those of you familiar with my growing-pains-approach–wrapped in word-play, optimism, whimsy, philosophical introspections, humour, encouragement, and depth–it’s more of the same. I realize this sounds like I’m brashly tooting my own horn–but really, I’m not. I happen to be blessed with a gift for writing and I am so grateful for it…it’s a sanity saver and allows me another way to do what I love best–connecting with others. And, I certainly wouldn’t be so selfish as to hope for you to read something that I thought was rubbish 🙂 Also, I would love for new people to come and “visit” me….I’ve met some of my favourite bloggers that way 🙂 http://www.trulyunplugged.com

  4. Hey everyone, I would like some feedback on the layout of the blog. I was also wondering how to make the “follow” button easier for readers to find? Thank you all!

Yoga in my Lula (sorta?) 🤸🏼‍♂️
Hello everyone! Happy Friday! So I am not a big exercise girl, I’m just too busy. All of the other excuses that you can think of, I have probably given them as well. I do enjoy running, but running in the freezing winter weather is not my idea of a good time.  All of that […]

  6. Hello, good afternoon and happy Sunday! I’m sort of a new blogger in a sense that I’m still trying to find my writing niche, so far it’s been personal experiences and crazy thoughts. Recently on my blog I discussed passions and what it’s like to not have discovered yours yet.

    What’s Your Passion?

I would love to hear your thoughts about my post and I’m eager to find out what your passion is or when you discovered what your passion was or maybe we have similar stories. Either way I’d love to chat with you all!

    1. Hi Sarah — I think it’s always a bit hard to get started in a new community, especially one as big and decentralized as the blogging community (which is really hundreds of smaller clusters of communities).

Still, one of the best ways to get people to notice and interact with your blog is to reach out to like-minded bloggers: browse the Reader for posts on similar topics to the ones that interest you. Leave comments on a couple of posts every day. Take a Blogging U. course (or three. they’re free, and you can find others participating using each course’s tag), or join a blogging event around a topic or genre you enjoy. Soon enough, you’ll find others who are interested in what you have to say and willing (probably eager) to engage in conversations through your respective blogs.

By the way, you linked to your stats page in your comment, but that’s a section of your site that is only viewable to you (or other admins on your blog, if there are any). This URL should work, though: https://dysfunctionalsarah.wordpress.com/

Good luck with your blogging adventure!
