Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. I told you about my site a few weeks back in another pool, but given that the story’s about to get to the point where I think it really picks up, with the introductions and such things done, I figured it wouldn’t hurt much to tell you about it again.

Could use comments, spreading the word, and knowledge that someone out there likes it.

      1. Just visited your blog and read your latest post on ‘How to stick to priorities’
Lovely and useful tips, and one should always prioritise their most important tasks to be at the forefront and work your way down.

  2. Hi Everyone!

I just restarted up my blog and have added a few posts during the last week. I would love any insight that you might have regarding my blog layout, the color palette, my writing style, etc. I am hoping to keep this going, but don’t want to continue if there isn’t an audience that would read it.

I’m slowly figuring out all the formatting and hoping to add a new logo and redo the site design in the next few weeks so let me know what you think.

      1. Hey Jessica Rose, thank you for checking out my posts, I’m glad to see that there are others talking about topics similar to mine. If I’m not mistaken, I’ve seen that you’re also an athlete so I’ll look forward to your next posts !

      2. I’m impressed ! I play basketball, not at an elite level like you yet but I’ll work to make it happen one day. I’m really interested in the knowledge you could provide, if your posts could talk about things like the mindset and mentality of an elite athlete, you’ll definitely have my support ! I’ll follow your blog anyway because you’ve caught my interest 🙂

      1. Hey Jessy. Thanks for the appreciation. On mobile, the follow button comes near the bottom after Top Posts. On laptop ot is in the right column after Top Posts. I hope now you will get it.
Your blog site is also very nice and interesting. Since I am also interested in healthy lifestyle, I have started following your blog and hope to read many more interesting posts. Keep posting.

    1. I like the examples you used to explain floating on the ISS. Your writing was a bit cumbersome in places. For instance, “Did you ever ask yourselves that why people float at the Iinternational Space Station while working??” would read better as, “Have you ever asked yourself why people float while working at the International Space Station?” You might find a free editing app such as hemingwayapp.com to be helpful. https://gracelead.co

    1. Your site layout seems fine. I looked at your latest post, Discouragement. I like your point of view. It would be easier to read with some editing. For instance, “they think they’d better at it” should be “they think they’re better at it” You might find a free editing app such as hemingwayapp.com to be helpful. https://gracelead.co

  6. Hello everyone. I am fairly new here. And it’d be awesome if you guys could just checkout my blog and give me feedback or anything. I’ve written about music for my first post.
    Thank you!

    1. I really enjoyed reading what you were trying to say. Keep up the writing. One of the things I do with my posts is have someone review it for grammatical mistakes. I think it really helps to have another eye on it before I post. Another piece of advice a fellow blogger gave me was to show more photos. I think you can still do this with your music theme.

    2. Liked and commented! Great post… We do Music Mondays over at the Nostalgia Diaries so we like music, too — and agree that our lives are so much better when there’s music involved. Welcome to the blogging world 🙂

  7. I’d like to invite everyone to stop by and take a look at a photography piece I posted earlier today, “Farewell to Fall 2016.” I took it Sunday afternoon during a hike on the Virginia Creeper Trail, and I think it captures the time of year when fall is ending and winter is about to begin. If you like it, please leave a like on the post page and follow me as I post several times a week. Of course, I welcome comments and any feedback, please leave them on the post page as well. Thanks in advance for taking a few moments to take a look.
