The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hi, folks! Well, this is my most recent post about my own personal life and I’m craving for some productive feedback.
Criticism and thoughts are totally welcomed.
Thank you so much. 🙂

I think you’ve got some good stuff there but I honestly found it a bit long for one single post. Generally I think you get more readers with 300-400 words. Great writing though

Yeah, I realized that. Usually my poems are kind of short, but this one was an exception because it’s a personal-essay.
I just wanted to tell my story to everybody and I guess I got a bit carried away with the word limit in this one. 😀
Anyways, thank you for replying. Really appreciate it. 🙂

I found your essay interesting and moving. If you’re looking for constructive feedback, I found the resolution on a few of your photos to be suboptimal. Not bad, but could be improved. (Maybe it’s because I have retina display?)

Hello! I highly appreciate your feedback but sadly it would be of no use to me as I’m not a photographer, nor I’ve taken those photographs myself. The pictures in my essay are taken from a Royalty free site. 😀 I don’t own them. But I’m glad you found my essay interesting.
Thank you. 🙂

Your post was a good read. My reasons for reading have changed over the years. Early on, I read to escape, to visit places not available to me physically, to understand other points of view, and to entertain myself. Now, I still read to understand other points of view, but mostly to gain helpful knowledge. https://gracelead.co

I blog about my near death experience and the lessons learned in the afterlife. I work as an English professor so I also write about teaching, post poems, book reviews (mostly of other NDE accounts), and occasional insights or revelations.
For those who enjoy poetry, I would like feedback. https://triciabarkernde.com/2016/10/07/three-goddess-poems-wise-sarasvati-persephones-darner-and-patient-euzulie/
Here is a recent book review from a very famous NDEr who spent a long time in the afterlife and received many important insights. https://triciabarkernde.com/2016/11/28/my-descent-into-death-a-second-chance-at-life-by-howard-storm-an-nders-book-review-and-personal-response/
This is not meant to be a comprehensive post about depression….it is only one suggestion that might make life more meaningful. Certainly, helping others through my profession has given me great joy and eased depression. Here is a post about this topic if you are interested. https://triciabarkernde.com/2016/11/05/a-way-out-of-depression-give-more-than-you-receive/

It was a nicely written post about something that is tough and as you say, its hard to deal with your life when it happens. We lost a dear cat last year and I think some people at my work could not truly understand why I was so upset and ‘out of it’. Thank you for sharing this.

Yes, I think it’s very hard for others to sympathize if they’ve never gone through it.

So sorry for your loss. Yes losing a pet is very hard. We lost 2 dogs in the space of 13 months. We now have 2 more dogs and we love them dearly but every day we still expect our beloved Gene and Beth ( named after Kiss) would be there to wake up too. Those who don’t have pets don’t understand. I even got a day off work once for a family day as my dog was sick. My boss was a pet lover. Xxx

Hi, I’ve been trying to find a suitable home for my book-in-progress. After my previous project fell through, I decided to take all of my depression/ill feelings of being sick and parlay it into a love letter to my hometown. Rather than tell an extraordinary story, I’m focused on an extraordinary normal, capturing snapshots of the lives of people who live in a small town in Illinois, over the course of fifty years. I grew up in Sunnyland, Illinois. My heart will forever be coiled around that place, but it is a place that is overrun with racists from the old guard, parents who never went anywhere raising children who followed in their footsteps, and economic downturns running businesses out of town. I’ve set out to capture the essence of the town in a bottle. I just recently started the project, which is tentatively titled Scenes From the Struggle. I would love to read any suggestions/comments/condemnations. Thank you!

Since your story is quite long, I would suggest putting an image every few paragraphs or so; in a place where there is a slight break in the story might be the best place. It could help the reader pause between sections and the visual could let them know they’re moving on to the next scene. Love your writing, btw!

Hello, I just checked out your blog. When I first started blogging I didn’t know what I wanted from it. I wasn’t even sure if this was just a silly project that I would quit in a few weeks, that was back in May. If blogging is something you want to do then find your niche and write to that audience. Also, use tags so your audience can find you. Check out my post https://writingnatural.wordpress.com/2016/09/23/how-to-become-a-blogging-champ/
