If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hi everyone! I just started a blog. I’m new to blogging and I still don’t know a lot of things. I’m a frustrated writer but I really, really want to write. I am looking forward to some constructive feedback from all of you in order for me to improve. I also hope to gain many friends!

    1. I know the feeling of being a frustrated writer. I’ve had a few blogs so far, but they all tapered off due to lack of views and I didn’t think anyone really wanted to listen. I hope you find your “niche” as well and find like minded people to listen and discuss. 🙂

    2. I like the look of your page! When I looked at the About though, it said your facebook page was not a valid URL. I started blogging only a couple of months ago, and a lot of people were quick to help me clean up my unused widgets and whatnot, so I thought I would pay it forward! Keep it up!!

First Friday is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. As a blogger with a few posts under your blogging belt, I think you’re ready for the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging.

  3. Hi all. Recently took to WordPress after months of not knowing where to start! Finally worked up the courage to start racing my mountain bike with lofty goals to compete at the highest levels as a privateer. My blog will cover racing & training while juggling full time work and real world commitments, so hopefully an interesting insight into the battle to balance all these elements to chase my dream! All comments & feedback welcome, help me share this journey. Thanks!

    Don’t call it a resolution…

  4. This is a brilliantly idea.

I am not sure what my blogs offer, what I can tell you is-I have been blogging for a while and it has all been pretty random until recently.

I will not say that I have only just suffered with mental illness but it is he first time it has become the most overbearing part of me. So I have started to blog my everyday life, in the hope that it helps someone else. Also, to give me something to return to when my battles seem harder than I can take. Really just to remind me how far I have come.

I hope you can find a moment to read them and leave any questions or comments you want. I look forward to reading a lot of others blogs! 😘

    1. Hi @overemoticon,

Welcome! I noticed you’re using a lot of tags on your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your work. If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

    1. I think that’s pretty cool. I personally love my fitbit, but it does leave something to be desired on the mental fitness end. I’m excited to see what you come up with.

  6. Hi everyone! I just joined today and am trying to find my “niche.” I don’t have any one particular thing I like to focus on, other than I enjoy talking about things society considers “taboo” such as mental illness, religion, politics, but I mostly enjoy talking about the antics of my pony. He’s adorable. Like seriously, if you ever meet him, you will fall. in. love. He’s just so cute! I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like him, and most kids ask if I’d be willing to let them have him. Gah!

Anyway, I’d love it if you stop by and take a look. If I can actually get people to read my stuff it will motivate me to keep posting and hopefully improve my blogging and writing style.

  8. I’m a writer and a single parents of a young adult daughter who suffers from depression and anxiety. This week, I began blogging as a way to cope with having had to place her in the hospital, after she told me she was planning to jump off a building. I’m looking to connect with others, am always grateful for advice and comment. Please feel free to read and to share links to your own blogs, so that I can return the favor. https://deepbreathinginbedlam.wordpress.com/ And thank you!

    1. Hi Susan,

You’ve shared a link to your stats page, which is private.

The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main, public home page page and click on a post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s the link to your site: https://very-seriously.com/
