To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hey everybody! I had a brilliant idea to start a blog after having writer’s block for a while. Please remember I am a rookie and feeling very vulnerable right now but would appreciate some feedback and an opportunity to meet and share with like (or unlike) minds. Looking forward to reading some of your blogs as well.

Check me out, let me know what you think, follow OR all of the above. Ok here goes!

    1. First Friday is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. As a blogger with a few posts under your blogging belt, I’d suggest checking out the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging.

  3. Hi fellow Bloggers. I started blogging last week, I’ve been writing articles for several years for a variety of magazines and papers. I’m loving this new format and the interactivity of socialising our work.

I love epiphanies, and moments that enable you to learn and grow. My first blog is about one such moment – about how I turned from cat loather to cat lover

    Hope you enjoy it.

    1. I totally agree! Everyone has their own ways of venting/coping/understanding and it’s pretty neat to be in the virtual company of people who share this outlet. I’m a bit newer too, but I think I can still officially “welcome” you!

  4. Hi! I finally found this page (I was looking for something exactly like this for days but somehow didn’t know where to go). I recently started my blog where I’ll write regularly (mostly thoughts on life & little creative writing exercises) and I’m looking both for some feedback and similar blogs that I can follow, here ! 🙂

      1. Thank you! 🙂 I actually put my blog up for practice as well. Been trying to write a novel for the longest time, but haven’t had much luck starting the actual writing part. So I thought I’d dabble around short stories and just get the fire going. Though life has been crazy lately, hence the lack of updates.

I’m looking forward to your posts! 😀

  5. Hello, My name is Angel and I just started blogging as a way to share my stories and adventures. I have bipolar depression and thought this would be a good idea to better understand myself and share with others. I update regularly and post to social medias when I update as well. I would greatly appreciate feedback on what I could do differently. Thank you! X

    1. Welcome! I noticed you’re using a lot of tags on this particular post. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your work. If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

  8. Hello fellow bloggers! I’m a young woman and I decided to start a new blog. I’d like it to be a place where I could share my thoughts on popular topics, but also talk about my personal life issues and sometimes drop a word about things I personally do or love: life as a (female) programmer, PC games, baking, DIY inspirations as well as some girly topics from time to time. I know it’s quite a wide veriety of topics, but hey! No one’s completely bland, focused on one thing only, right?
Come visit and say hi, I’d love to hear from you – yes, you!
    Cheers 🙂

    1. Hi there! This is a nice start! I enjoyed reading your post about simplicity! There were a lot of good quotes to guide your argument.

If I may offer some criticism, it seems like you were listing topics/virtues maybe clearing indicating that with numbers or some form of separation would help the reader? Also try out quote blocks and see if you like them. They add a bit more aesthetic and dynamic to post. You can find it on your tool bar when editing/writing your blog post.

      Hope this helped! 🙂
