Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I think this is a really cool idea 🙂 I just responded! Nice use of images, good content. Are you using tags? Some themes have them hidden, and I didn’t see any on yours. If you’re not using them, consider it! They help new readers find your posts and you can use up to 15 tags/categories total. Ones like ‘community’ or ‘change’ or ‘personal growth’ or ‘self-awareness’ would fit this post well.

  1. When I used to post in Facebook, my posts were very different from the daily food pictures and funny “memes” shared by my “friends”… some “friends” made comments mentioning I should have a blog…and so I experimented with that idea with no much success.

I did abandoned the blog for months and now I’m back. I realize my blog is a bit “all over the place” and I need to spend more time rearranging it and making it more “focused”. Meanwhile, take a look… 😉

    1. My blog is focused on young women, college female freshman, transgender women, any ladies who have all made mistakes and want to learn and grow to become the best version of themselves that they can be. I challenge individuals who read my posts to think about things in their lives that they have learned from in hopes of educating younger generations.

      1. Loved your post! I write about gender stereotypes myself, so I appreciated this especially 🙂 Great content. My suggestion: use fewer tags. If you use more than 15 tags/categories, WordPress blocks your post from Reader. This post has about 25 tags and categories 😦

    1. I looked at your overall site, which looks good, is easy to navigate, and even has an About page 🙂 I read your lates post. I agree that quote makes you stop and think. It was a good one to share. Your tags seem appropriate for the post. All in all, you are off to a good start. https://gracelead.co

    2. I took a look at your blog and I like how random your posts are. Your posts are easy to read. I will never say that somebody’s blog is pointless as this is an outlet of expression for you and if you are enjoying it, keep at it and don’t think that what you write is pointless. I personally enjoyed reading your posts. If you would like, please check out my blog at http://merrymadnessblog.wordpress.com Thanks and good luck with your blog.

    1. Here are my thoughts: Right now, your blog is a little plain — but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I actually like how you’re not tempting me with tons of distractions, like a million graphics and widgets and crazy, bright colors. Your words should do the talking, not a loud, busy page. So that’s great! My suggestion, though, would be to add images to your post to break up the text and add some color in — not enough to distract your readers, but enough to draw them into your posts. Blogging is a very visual medium, after all!

    2. Well although the blog is plain and neat, but I would love seeing you add some colors to it. Moreover, I feel you really got to change your fonts. I loved your posts. They were awesome 🙂
