Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hi Rahimb, great to chance upon your blog! I have left a few comments as your blog is a breath of fresh air. Perhaps it’s intentional (and the way your blog is designed), but I was trying to find a “Categories” section or “Tags” in order to find the next post to read. But it is a clean, minimalist design which allows your words to shine!

    2. Your letter is heartfelt and authentic. I find writing to be the best way to process through feelings and “get a load off.” I read your About page and quote at the top of your Home page and I greatly appreciate your outlook on life. Everyone has a story and it is meant to be told! Keep posting from your heart – your blog is great!

    1. I like your “silly” posts. Science trivia is fun, at least to me 🙂 When one of my friends is boring me with jabber about sports, I can use one of science factoids to change the conversation. It looks like you have a few things to do on your site. There is some place holder text at the top of your Home page. Your About page needs a few words to tell us the purpose of your site and/or something about yourself. If you can find a more science-related image to put in your Header that would be nice too. https://gracelead.co

    1. I enjoyed your post. Yes, there were reasons voters had for their choices beyond the ones depicted in the hateful ads. I wish everyone was able to be courteous to those who saw things differently in this election. You are setting a good example for us. https://gracelead.co

  3. Hi, bloggers.

I’m trying to establish some connections wth other political blogs (US + UK) to create a bit of a network – would be more than happy to promote fellow high quality political blogs in an attempt to spark debate amongst our readership.

Please get in touch, follow and have a look here: lancedpolitics.wordpress.com

    1. Hi, there. I’m always down for connecting with other political bloggers.
Not sure if my blog counts as “high quality,” but I do like exploring topics that ask thoughtful questions. Either way, I’m heading over to your blog to give it a look.

    1. It was quite good! The story took quite an unexpected turn. I do recommend adding more details about the emotions of the son at the end – he reads to be calm. Other than that, great job – keep writing!
