First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard. Click on a post’s title to open the individual post. Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the community! To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other links to keep this space focused on new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays by visiting a link or two and leaving the bloggers a supportive like or comment.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused with a few other guidelines:

  • If you share a link, visit a few other bloggers as well. New readers for all!
  • Please don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post — it makes it easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” or “Please look at my blog!” comments. They’re a bit spammy, and it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual blogs.
  • To keep from losing your place, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Love what you have so far! I was trying to follow you but can’t seem to find a follow button! I would love to continue to read your works. Also I know you are new, as am I, but I thought I would point out your default about page and a sample text widget are lingering in your site.

    1. your blog looks cool, I would insert a read more tag so that you don’t see the whole post on the first page when it’s long!

    1. Hello there! just checked out your new blog! I love what you have there! I did notice something and I don’t know if its just my lack of knowing how to work this damn technology but I couldn’t find your post until I clicked on the comments link. Again, maybe that’s just my inability to figure out this wordpress thing as I am new as well! Anyways, loved it!

      1. @epiphany you can see the blog post by clicking on the name of the post. having readers actually go to the page to read it helps to save room on the home page. @thosepointlessthoughts I love your blog and think it is an amazing idea! your first piece is really good and I think the whole blog will be 🙂

    1. Hi Qiu,

It’s really interesting how you separate your posts into moods and colours. Your writing is really clean, yet dreamy at the same time. Saw the “Nightfall” post, and it really kept me wanting to read more. I hoped you are planning on continuing that!
I would like to add that your pictures are Beautiful, seriously.

      1. Hi Xavier!
Thank you so much for such a lovely review and thoughtful approach to how you felt about Nightfall.
I’ll definitely run the Blue section for a continuation of it!
Your comment on my pictures just made my day! 🙂 If you have an instagram account, feel free to look over @audere.in_esse for more of the pictures I took!

    1. Hi! I think your blog has potential to be very interesting, but the way you are doing your posts makes it so that there isn’t a lot to read…. I would work on writing slightly longer, more meaningful posts in the future. I like it so far though!

  1. Hello all,

Writing makes me think. Not on a superficial level, but like a tough mathematics question where you mull it over for days. Except I don’t do maths. I love doing only three things on my days off. Eat, Watch, and Write. Oh, and being Slothy. I hope that my post would help each and everyone out there like it did for me.
I’m Xavier and nice to meet you.

    1. Hey Defluo,

I too sometimes struggle to write, finding all sorts of excuses to NOT write. Sometimes its laziness or inspiration, but I find that if I really sat down to think things through, I am able to at least get something out. I’m glad you are determined to finish this project that you started, and I hope it goes well with you.

    1. Hi seyiminam,

saw your post “In the theatre of my mind”, not sure if you planned it or not, there are some additional spacings between words.

But hey, I think your poem was really great, especially that last part which sums it up beautifully.

    1. Howdy! I noticed you’ve got some text widgets with long links in them. You can turn those into linked words if you’d like — you just need a bit of HTML. Here’s a template; replace the bits in caps with your info:

      <a href="http://YOURLINKHERE.COM">TEXT YOU WANT TO SHOW HERE</a>

      So, for example, this:

      <a href="https://wordpress.com/dailypost">The Daily Post is awesome!</a>

      Will appear as this:

      The Daily Post is awesome!

(There’s also a shortcut — open a draft post, and create your text and link there. Then, go into the “HTML editor” view. The HTML will be there, and you can copy and paste it. Then trash the post.)
