The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hey everyone, I am a more or les seasoned travel and photography blogger from Germany/ Latvia.
I recently restructured the widget area of my page and chose some new background for it 🙂
I’d love to get some feedback on the layout of my page and/or my style of photography, depending on what you are up to 🙂

Hi, I’m just beginning what I think is going to be a lifestyle blog, with content on my travels, a platform for my photography, recipes, thoughts, etc. I have only one post so far but any feedback and ideas on what people are interested in would be awesome!
LikeLiked by 7 people
What you think about your blog will soon change, because so will your interests, so will your skills, and so will you. It’s great that you’re keeping yourself open to all of the possibilities.
But, if you want some feedback, you could put in a bit more about yourself in your About page – after all, you want your readers to know who you are before they step into your head (via your blog). Some tags would be nice – that’s how you get noticed by the random blog-wanderer, even the occasional WordPress editor.

Hello Bloggers,
I’m newly dealing with my post-college slump by blogging (well, complaining-via-blog) about my current situation. It’s mostly an exercise in getting the bad feelings out of my body, but I thought, “Hey, maybe some other angsty souls out there would be interested in my thoughts.” Any advice on how I can make my posts more interesting to others without compromising my therapeutic purpose would be much appreciated.

Hello Vincent,
Thank you for sharing your post 🙂
I have gone to the cinema alone. I am married. Sometimes there is a movie that I really want to go to the my husband isn’t interested in. Sometimes it is a real treat on a rainy afternoon to have time to myself and film. I love that I can go somewhere alone and not think that I am alone….
🙂
Your site is very intriguing!

My name is The 6 Million P Man, due to the amount of metal I have in my face after an “incident” many years ago, and I am a photographer. I shoot both film and digital and post regularly. Please give my blog a once over, it’s always good to have a fresh pair of eyes and fresh opinions give it a look and who knows maybe you’ll see something you really like?
Here’s a couple of posts to get your teeth in to but take a proper browse through the blog itself if you’d like to see more as well;
First up a long running film format series of images I post regularly;
And also a 52 week photo project I’m doing this year;
Let me know your thoughts. Thank You.

Oh, what’s a proper blog, really. This place has recipes, poets, short-story writers, game/book/movie critics, travelers, fashionistas, photographers, the occasional role-player, even educators and scientists. You’ll find an audience – we’re all readers and writers here.
Later on, you’ll find things to write about other than random thoughts when you get used to your blogging voice. It takes some adjustment, believe me. I didn’t think anyone would want to hear science from a snarky grad student, either.

Hi everyone. I write a blog about bipolar disorder. Most of my followers suffer from a mental illness or have close family who does. I’m trying to write content that explains what happens within the disease of bipolar to someone who doesn’t have bipolar. But, I’m not sure if I’m really accomplishing that.
I would deeply appreciate any constructive criticism (or compliments!! lol) to see if I’m meeting my goal.
LikeLiked by 4 people
I think that talking about mental illnesses often takes careful bravery; while it’s easy to speak clinically (and in a humanly-detached manner) about physical ailments like cancer or even HIV, mental illnesses are harder to talk about since they’re harder to separate from the people who suffer them. More power to you for stepping up to the plate.
Of course, if I have to say something, maybe less tags? I’ve heard that 7-10 is a good number, and too many may get you filtered out of searches. You’ve got 350+ followers already, but you wouldn’t want people to miss out on your story, you know?

Hi everyone, I created a blog to document my experience moving 500 miles away from home and my new husband to get my MS in Plant Pathology. I like to share stories about my hiking adventures and the crazy things I learn about in my classes and research. I’m new to blogging and opening up for others to see in. Welcoming feedback and new followers. What did you like? What should I stay away from? How much does my grammar offend you?… http://wanderingsolosite.wordpress.com

Speaking as a current grad about to wrap up his career (yay doctorate, boo unemployment), I raise my Foggy London to you and your post-grad career. All the best to you and yours. I like the writing style, what with you showing the non-academic side of yourself proving that there’s more to you than your studies (it’s grad school, not a cloister). If anything, perhaps a shorter tagline for your blog? It just looks weird that “Wandering Solo” is followed up by lines of text – perhaps just keep it short, sweet, memorable, kind of like a motto or a slogan.
