Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. I was drawn to the title because I found that it describes my life pretty well. Gonna give it a read now.

  1. Hello all!
I recently started this new blog and just posted my third post (a throwback to one of the pieces I wrote two years ago). I know it is not how my writing style is now exactly, but I’d appreciate and feedback you guys can give. And I am also willing to give feedback in return. Thanks so much!

      1. Haha thanks! I honestly am so melodramatic especially two years ago, it really shows in my work apparently!

  2. Good morning all! I have posted twice this week and my links are below. One is, “What to do on Election Night in Seattle,” (probably my favorite post I’ve written so far) and the other is from my Links of the Week series, but it’s Halloween edition. I share my posts on social media, and people do read my posts, however no one ever interacts with them! I’d love to connect with some other lifestyle/random bloggers and exchange some blog comments.
    Thanks in advance!

  4. Hello everyone! I have just got my blog up and running. It will mainly be book reviews but I have thrown in random life posts as well. I would love some feedback as to how to grow stronger as a blogger seeing as how this is my first time attempting to blog. My blog is located at http://mommyreadsbooks.com

  5. Hey everyone, SO grateful to have found this place! I look forward to checking out your blogs! I started my blog/vlog site in May. I have a passion for music, comedy but most of all social justice. I am trying to find a way to combine these (though I haven’t posted about music yet). I would greatly appreciate ANY feedback anyone could give on their first impressions of my page, and if you have the time, what you think of some of my articles vs vlogs. https://christinaluke13.wordpress.com Also, based on expereince is it recommended to post daily or twice weekly? I don’t know if anyone else is in this same boat but I’m having a harder time combining social justice and comedy, I guess out of fear that my channel is too new to be taking risks by getting political, but perhaps being my authentic self is the best way to provide great content while still presenting a positive message. I’m just pretty unsure honestly. Hope you all enjoy your visit and please don’t hesitate to give feedback! Much love, Christina ❤

    1. I like your post. It is short, fun and precise. However, is it a setback of the scratch pad theme not to have any spot for comments? I didn’t find anywhere I could comment

    2. I read your Halloween post and your Change post. I like that they are short, sweet, and to the point. What I liked about the Halloween post was how you pointed out the change in perspective that you had as you progressed through different life stages. It made me think about my own. Regarding your Change post, my view is that people blog for different reasons. The key is to know why you are blogging and stay true to your purpose. https://gracelead.co

    1. Hello –
I read your post https://wifeofandtravels.wordpress.com/2016/10/20/a-tiny-chapel-and-a-whole-lot-of-ladybirds/ . I enjoyed it and you include many interesting details. Take lots of pictures and include more to support your details.

I noticed that you have a widget on your sidebar that you’re not using. Go into the customize section of your design and click on widgets to change it.

I would suggest that you use shorter sentences and paragraphs to make your blog more readable. Try reading your sentences out loud and if you start to run out of breath – you’ll know it’s too long.

Are you using any categories or tags? I didn’t see any on your site. Read up about them and you will become more searchable and possibly connect with other like-minded bloggers.

      Have a great day!

      Pura Vida!

      1. Thankyou for reading and for your constructive feedback. Yes, I think I need to look at things like widgets and tags, Itend to avoid things for fear of getting it wrong…time to jump in and build up these areas I think!

  6. Ok. I’ve managed to post again. At present, I’m working on a series, which may well turn into a book. I welcome any feedback, positive or negative.

  7. Hello All

The new Marvel film Doctor Strange has come to the big screen. It made me think about this character and comic books in general. Hence my new blog. It is not a film review as such but my thoughts on my personal favoured Marvel character. I wondered what others think of this very growing band of what must be now household names.
Do these movies live up to the 2D flat comics? Or were comics something more to engage the mind and imagination.
Enjoy and feedback welcomed as always.
