Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hey everyone, I started a blog for my writing and it’s about a month old. This month I started a countdown to Halloween and I’d love some feedback. There should be 31 short excerpts from Halloween stories by the time I’m done. Most of the pictures are done by me. Check it out! http://www.inkowlme.wordpress.com

    1. How fun! I also write about my husband and I’s travels! Love your Venice post. We made it around Tuscany but didn’t have time to get up to Venice. Would love to go back someday! Excited to follow along with you!

  3. Hi, I’m new to the blogging scene. I recently updated my theme in WordPress after some (somewhat harsh) constructive criticism from my beloved (Yes, I still love him). I’m wondering if y’all would mind giving me some feedback as well. My blog is a personal blog, I am a SAHM that works part time, and I homeschool my two babies.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

    1. I think the layout is cute and easy to navigate! Haha yeah… Every time I ask my husband to review my content he always gives me more constructive feedback than I’d like 😉

Excited to follow along with you!

  4. Autumn Home Touches

It is officially my favourite time of year.🍁 Autumn🍁

When the leaves are browning and it’s cold enough for a wooly hat and a fluffy pair of gloves. What more can a person need than to snuggle up on a evening with a warm drink and a comfy pair of slipper…

    1. I enjoyed this post and the video was a very nice touch! I am not sure why but my computer didn’t load something that was at the very top and I had to scroll down to see your blog. It might very well be my computer though. Maybe someone else can let you know if their computer did the same thing. Thanks for sharing the warm fuzzies of Autumn!

    1. Overall, the site is visually pleasing. I was a little confused by the content. Diet tips didn’t seem to fit with what I thought was the purpose of your site. On your post, “Did You Know?” you might want a tltle such as, “Why a CV Matters.” That would give viewers a better idea of what to expect in that post. https://gracelead.co

  6. Hello everyone,

I am new to WordPress and came across this forum while browsing. Thought I’d say hello and introduce myself through my first post:

To blog or not to blog

I’d like to hear about your experience when you started your first blog. More specifically, did you keep it focused on a topic or two or were you more wide-ranging in what you covered?

It’d be great as well to know whether the purpose of my blog resonates with you. All feedback welcome. Do let me know on the post itself – you know how loudly quiet it can get on a blog when you are starting! 😉

    2. My opinion is that there is no one right way to blog. You appear to be ahead of many others who jump in without a sense of why they want to blog. I’m blogging because I want to encourage and strengthen leaders. From that persective, my blog site is focused; however, as you know, leadership is a big topic 🙂 https://gracelead.co

    1. I think it’s a good first post. The language is descriptive and has a pleasant tone. You might want to run spell check on it. In the editing bar above where you type in your post there is an “abc” option to check spelling. https://gracelead.co

    1. Your feisty voice comes through in your writing and makes for a good read. I read “Chick Lit.” My first thought reading the title was, “What is Chick Lit?” To me Chicklits are little pieces of chewing gum. Upon reading your post, I concluded that Chick Lit is literature featuring women as the heroes. Now you know how out of touch I am with popular fiction. 🙂 I am one of the odd ones who plans my posts well in advance. In fact, I already have my weekly posts written and scheduled for the next two months. https://gracelead.co

  7. Hello guys. I found a way to make a round up of the month. I think it can help have followers or readers read some of the posts they’ve missed. Any suggestions on how you do it? I just provided a list. There’s another version with the snippet of the post, but it might the post might get too long so I chose to have it as a list. I’m welcome to other ways on how to do it. =) Please share yours, so I may apply it for October. =) Thanks!

  8. I am coming to the conclusion that I just have to stay focused on writing what I know will help people if they don’t already know about my topics. Sometimes I get frustrated that I have links to my blogs all over the place and do not get a lot of response. Could it be that although informative, my topics are boring? Thoughts? Thanks in advance. Here is the latest. https://donnajefferson1.wordpress.com/what-is-credit-utilization/

    1. Who is your target audience? I’m guessing anyone looking for a way to manage their finances would find your posts helpful. Others would probably not find your blog since they wouldn’t be searching for topics related to your posts. You might want to add a couple of tags “credit score” and “improve your credit score.” I could see someone searching for those. Have you set up Tags in your WordPress Reader on topics similar to yours? That could help you find like-minded bloggers. If you put likes and comments on some of their posts, they will probably visit your site too. https://gracelead.co

    1. One thing to consider is adding a Menu with Categories. You seem to have diverse topics. If you can assign each post to one of your categories, a visitor could look in the category that interests them to see all posts you’ve done in that category. https://gracelead.co
