Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Just started my blog a few weeks ago, would love prompt suggestions and general story ideas? 😊 Currently dabbling mostly in slice of life stuff (and in the universe of the fantasy novel I’m trying to put together) but I do have fun responding to “hey, why don’t you write about this” and getting out of my comfort zone, haha 😉

      1. Thank you! I’ve actually being doing that one already (and I’ve seen other prompts that use pictures instead), but there are times when I even those ones don’t overcome my writer’s block. Someone telling me “zombies eating shawarma at 10 in the morning while nursing an apocalyptic hangover” or something just as random can sometimes do the trick, haha 🙂

    1. Hi Spy Garden! Yes, it still is quite slow to load. Maybe the tech support people at WordPress could help with turning off infinite scroll. Also, if you have a lot of posts that are mostly pictures, maybe you could try using the “gallery” post format.

  2. Hello,
I got a new idea, what do you think!!!
    OUR MINDS

The heart loves songs while the mind likes stories.A story is like a lubricant in a man’s brain. It soften our brains, helps the brains to think smoothly and comprehend easily. The simplest way to write a blog is in form of story.Your information should be inserted in the story, doing that, the readers would find your posts interesting.

  3. Check out my weekly poem, “Pacific Ghost Highway.” It’s a fun little poem to kick off October and the Halloween season. I post a poem each week, so if you like poetry feel free to browse the archives and click the follow button. Please leave any likes/comments/feedback on the post page. Thanks in advance for reading.

  4. Hi everyone! I’m one of those people who once had a blog, and then disappeared for years and years and years. I’m trying to get back into writing. My blog is a mix of creative writing, poetry, and snatches of real life.

A representative piece (kinda, sorta) would be this one: https://andtherain.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/find-your-way/, where I talk about writing and how I fell out of the habit, and some things that have made me the writer I am today.

Constructive criticism on any of the pieces is welcomed.

Also, I’m still not sure about my layout. I don’t really like sidebars, so I’m a bit worried about navigation. Thoughts?

Hope everyone is having a good week so far – i wrote a piece this week on Communication and possible blocks to that and would love to hear which of the suggested annoyances you have come across so if you have a moment to check out the post and add your feedback that will be muchly appreciated.

Do you get in your way of communicating?

    1. Nice content! My suggestion: make your font a little darker. On my monitor, it clashes with the background image a little, making it a little hard to read 😦 If the font is darker, then you won’t have this problem!

Would you be willing to review one of my posts? Click on my name and choose whichever one appeals to you most 🙂

    1. You have an interesting and informative blog. You have a unique way with words. I feel the same way as you…blogging can be therapeutic and aggravating at the same time. As long as you are happy with what you are doing; that is all that matters! Good luck with your blog!

    1. The overall feelings come through. A little editing would make it an easier read. For example, here’s an alterntive version of a piece of your writing: “Being a mathematician would help me achieve my dream of creating a formula to benefit mankind. On the other hand, being a mechanical engineer would garner sufficient income for my survival.” https://gracelead.co
