Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hi! I liked your blog, especially that ‘fridge’ title for the archives. It could just be me, but I felt like there was too much empty space around the text, by contrast, for the anonymous texts, the frames you used were perfect for me. They framed the text well, and worked great with the background.
Just a question, did you leave out the capitals on purpose or is it the font you’re using? (I’m a capitals-kind-of person :p)
Sorry if I went too far with the opinion, again, I really liked the blog, it’s like the kind of coffee shop I’d want to hang around at.

      1. I did leave out the capitals on purpose ;p and thank you so much for the feedback. I like the anonymous text style as well. Thank you for visiting! 😀

    2. I love the minimal aesthetic of your blog, it is bold and it looks great! Your poetry is interesting and I love the idea of your Lemonade Stand. It’s clear that you enjoy interacting with your readers. Awesome!

    3. Hey !!
I was just going through your blog .. I found this page of yours ‘the lemonade stand’ and I got the idea of using a similar post to help me get ideas to post stuff about !!!
That’s a real good idea and I’ll have to thank you a lot for it !!

PS: Don’t mind if you find an anonymous stalker to your blog … that’s not me though !! :p
PPS: Being a greedy guy .. I’d like to request you to check out my blog too !! 🙂 Thank you ! 🙂

    4. I LOVE your site!!! It is very ‘uncluttered’ and well laid out. It is really easy to follow, and I found myself completely drawn in.

Your lemonade stand is a brilliant idea!!!

I loved your poem ‘no known solutions’. Loved your Coffee Part 4 as well.

Your writing is real and down to earth….

      Thank you for sharing 🙂

    1. Hi! Personally, I liked this type of theme . It’s dark, but not too dark for me, especially with your colorful image choices. I would suggest you play around with the background color, not necessarily a brighter color, but a tad bit of color might be nice.
I found the the post a comment easily, no worries there 🙂
      Good luck!

    2. I like how dark your blog is, it’s different from many other who usually use the white background (me included). I find it rather refreshing. I am on the app at the moment and find your blog easy to navigate and clear to read!

    3. Hello Erica,

I don’t think it is too dark. The dark background works as you have lighter text and pictures with each post. I found it easy to navigate.

I really enjoyed your post on the rugby match, and your post about songs for self love.

      Thank you for sharing!

      🙂

    4. It didn’t look too dark and it’s not that hard to navigate. I like the darker themes in general myself anyway. Mine is a dark background too. I personally feel it’s easier on the eye to read from a darker background with a contrasting font color.
Good content too. Consider adding relevant pictures in the blog content too, to make it more visually appealing to readers.
Feel free to browse through my page though and share your thoughts on anything that interests you.

    1. You really are messing with us 🙂 I don’t judge distances well. I am short; however, I think the key factor is my imperfect eyesight rather than my height. Besides, I believe tall people have developed a greater sensitivity to distance after banging their heads on low hanging objects. Surely that causes changes to their brains :-} Again, another delightful read from your site. https://gracelead.co

      1. The study only considered people without sight imperfections. There’s also some cultural artifacts that need to be considered – I wonder if people more accustomed to Eastern vs. Western architecture (read: lower vs. higher ceilings) may be a variable worth exploring…

  1. Hello all! Today I posted a question for other bloggers about commenting. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on how much you comment!

Coming up soon: a book review and an update on my fall goals!

Looking forward to browsing this comment section as usual 🙂

    1. Hello Nerdy Wordy!!!

I loved your post on how much to comment. First of all, I LOVE your idea about going for coffee with a fellow blogger when you happen to be visiting their city. I think that if you did reach out, if they were like minded then they would not find it weird at all. There are people out there that do this sort of thing 🙂

I also think that you should comment as much as you want. I follow my heart. I comment when I feel like I really connected with the post or really have something I just want to tell them because their writing invoked it in me. I think people who are passionate about writing would love to hear about the impact their post had on you. When I see the same person commenting on multiple posts, I feel excited that they actually enjoyed it enough to read more than one 🙂

All the best in your writing!!!

      🙂

    1. Great writing. Loving the dark undertones! Looks like you have been blogging for a while. My only feedback is perhaps consider increasing the font to a darker grey… For weaker sight and bright backlit phones… The current lighter grey feels difficult to read. Do swing by my blog and let me know your thoughts about it. 🙂

      Liked by 2 people

      1. That is a very nice feedback because when I choose this theme I thought the same with the light grey colour of fonts. I tried to change it but it didn’t work 😦 maybe I’ll just give it a try once more. Thanks for visiting my blog and sharing your thoughts, I’ll drop by yours soon ! 🙂

    2. Absorbing read. Good use of tags and categories. Commented in the post.
One thing I noticed though, in the second para, to let her of the cliff, I was wondering if you meant to write OFF instead of OF.
Feel free to browse through my page though and share your thoughts on anything that interests you.

  2. Hi everyone, it’s all happened in the last week – I even got a year older so today I’m reflecting on a whole 12 months of life and blogging. And tomorrow I will be celebrating a blogging award nomination!

Would be great if you could stop by and let me know your thoughts. If you write a real life honest blog let me – I’d love to read it!

      1. Hiya 🙂 I had a look at your blog. I’m probably not coming at it from the right perspective. I’m single and in my mid 30s and not sure if I want kids. I also don’t believe in God.

I found it moving, but I’ll be honest, I’m not in a position to empathise, so I slightly felt like I was imposing, reading it. I think blogging is such a personal experience, however I’m sure other people who have gone through something like that will find it a great solace. Xx

    1. I love your blog! Your photos are very nice and I am loving that dress from the “Date Night” blog. 🙂 nice mix of recipes, life experiences, etc. Felt like I was talking with a friend at the coffee shop while reading, very personable. Love it! Happy blogging!

    1. Well written. Consider using relevant images within the post to make visually more appealing to your readers.
Personally, I do tend to lose interest when blogs are longer. But my attention span is equivalent to that of a humming birds’. So no argument there.
That’s why I tend to keep my blogs short too, assuming others would get bored of reading longer posts too.

  4. Well, after a blog hiatus and the evil known as time I’ve finally got round to coming back to see you good people. I’ve been running a series of short stories written some time ago about two paranormal brothers. It started as a sideline, but some of my blog followers quite liked it and I’m in two minds whether to pick it up again. Feedback would be valued greatly…as it always is from you fine people.

I’ve also thrown in an absence apology for my readers in the form of a meet and greet too. Are these good ideas??

    1. It was easy to relate to your dilemma. You made a good point of sometimes having to choose between two competing fears. I like the way you ended on a positive note. To answer your question, yes I often lose interest in long posts. I tend to go into speed-reading mode and seek items of interest amongst the long narrative or, even worse, if I haven’t found something I can relate to within a couple of paragraphs, I don’t finish reading the post. https://gracelead.co

    2. Lovely post ‘dilemma’. Very understandable. .. yes a times, I lose interest with long post if the topic being dealt with is something I don’t really fancy. If I like the topic, I don’t really mind the length so far it has great content.

  7. hey guys, i wrote a couple of post and wondered for any of your feedback, like “maybe my post is too long?””too childish?” please let me know as i would love to hear what you have to say !

i’d appreciate for your time if you do check ’em

    1. I don’t think your posts are too long or too childish, especially the one about suicide. Your content is good, but you may want to include images (blogging is a very visual medium) and you may want to use categories/tags. These will help more readers find your blog and you can use up to 15 total.
