Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance next Monday, September 19. We look forward to seeing you on the pool deck the following Monday, September 26.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Greetings fellow bloggers!

My latest post, “Slow and steady” is up and I would love it if you would read it, like it, add a comment. Do you think it’s inspiring? The whole purpose of my blog is to inspire others. I have had 21 surgeries in the last 2 years. My most recent surgery was to replace most of my femur, hip and hip joint.

Your feedback would be awesome! And feel free to follow my blog as well.

    Thanks y’all!

    Julie

    1. I think you are off to a good start with your site. It’s visually appealing and easy to navigate. I enjoyed the stop lollygagging post. It made a good point and for some reason I’ve always liked the word lollygagging 🙂 I don’t know about posting a FB URL. You can Share your WordPress posts to your FaceBook acccount. Look under WPAdmin for Sharing. https://gracelead.co

  3. Hi 🙂

I just started blogging about a month ago and would love to hear your thoughts about my writings and my thoughts. It would help a lot, really!

I mainly focus on digging those kept feelings back up.

Here’s one of my new posts: “Blue”

    Blue.

    and another one: “Echoes”

    1. Hi Christine, great to meet you! Your writing is a pleasurable read – it flows with emotion and I can totally relate. I wasn’t able to find anywhere to leave comments though… Also it might help to consider changing the font colour, as some parts of grey was a little hard to read.

It’s uncanny how everyone you follow is pretty much who I follow too! 😍

Feel free to browse mine 🙂

  4. I have just published my first post after procrastinating for two years.

    https://aworldofinformation.wordpress.com/2016/09/17/firstpostever

I am somewhat terrified to have my words out in the open for anyone to see. I have been storing up writings for 25 years now. I have 26 drafts I have never had the courage to even finish. After discovering the world of blogs these past two years, and reading the posts of other people brave enough to press “publish”, I’ve finally gotten up the courage to do it myself. So, I just…did it. My goal was to just get it over with. The hardest part is getting started. I’m glad to have jumped that first hurdle, and I would also appreciate any comments, input, criticism (good or bad), advice, etc.

    1. Though rather long, your post was a good read. Since you have a large file of written material at your fingertips, it might help to think of ways to organize what you have. For instance, as you consider what you have, do you begin to notice recurring topics? If so, these could become Categories on your site. You could then alternate your posts between those Categories. https:gracelead.co

      1. I am glad I finally got up the nerve to write my first post, because even though you are my first replier you have helped me to see my directions and steps more clearly. Thank you for taking the time to provide the input. It is perfect advice for me. I would feel a lot more creative and in control of my blogging if I I first lay the ground work and foundation for the blog.

  5. Hi guys, optimistic new blogger writing about relocation to Hong Kong and training Jiu Jitsu, would love to know how accessible my writing on Jiu Jitsu is to an audience who doesn’t also train it. Any comments and criticisms welcome as I’m new to the writing game! Joining a writers circle to hone my writing skills so bare with me 🙈 https://leanluggage.wordpress.com/2016/08/23/jiu-jitsu-needs-no-translation/#more-337 Looking for more blogs to read and to inspire me so any suggestions please let me know! When i visit someone’s page, hitting the like button doesn’t work! i can hit the like only from the readers page where people’s posts appear like news feed. But if i visit the page then the like button doesn’t work! I really appreciate your suggestion about fixing the issue?
