To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard. Click on a post’s title to open the individual post. Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the community! To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other links to keep this space focused on new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays by visiting a link or two and leaving the bloggers a supportive like or comment.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused with a few other guidelines:

  • If you share a link, visit a few other bloggers as well. New readers for all!
  • Please don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post — it makes it easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” or “Please look at my blog!” comments. They’re a bit spammy, and it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual blogs.
  • To keep from losing your place, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      1. When I wrote my first post last year, I really did not plan to write blogs regularly. It was just an idea that kept ringing in my head until I finally decided to put it on “paper.” And then, almost immediately after posting that, our life went through a whirlwind of change. My husband took a promotion at work, we put our house on the market and sold it within 2 weeks (not to mention that during this 2 week span, our son was bitten by a copperhead), and we finally found a house we liked and moved to the next town over. We really have just started getting settled into our new home/neighborhood/school. After all of the changes, I guess I just decided that I need an outlet! I have always loved writing but never thought it was “good enough” to display publicly. Then a couple of weeks ago I asked myself why not? Even if I just write for my own sanity!

    1. I like the color scheme of your blog– it’s very bright and cheerful. The front page seems a bit cluttered, I might suggest putting the photo galleries on a separate page and put your social media links in your contact page.

    1. There’s got to be more you can tell us about you, right? You must be interesting for some reason – I believe only a handful of people are so paralyzingly, stultifyingly dull and they often choose to be that way – and there must be more to you than what’s in your About page. Why not bring more of yourself out to play? You’ll never know what kind of interested reader is looking for you.

I didn’t think anyone out there would want to read a science blog by a scientist reading research, and yet…

  1. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

      1. Your recent blog about depression is quite self explanatory and I would like to tell you that you yourself know the cure and the tackling techniques for your depression. Expressing won’t make you vulnerable but only stronger than before keep expressing 😉☺

    1. I was intrigued by your first post, but I want to know what you are planning to write about. I do like your plain style, but without more pieces it is tough to know if that is intentional. Write more, or add some style/color. Good luck!
