First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to their first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your post, copy and paste the link right into a comment here.

Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • The third time is not the charm: don’t share your stuff repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. These will be removed as well.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments or repeatedly replying to comments with your link; this is considered spammy. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  2. Hey all! Just started up my blog a day or two ago after putting it off for so long. I made it as a channel for me to be able to express my thoughts and my experiences throughout life from my perspective. I also would like to start adding a comedic twist on my posts, but I’ll be taking it one step at a time! Let me know what y’all think!

I will definitely make sure to visit yours! Thanks guys!

  4. I just recently started my blog. My spouse and I have been trying to follow a more moral and compassionate diet. What I am doing is blogging after making a vegetarian meal for the first time ever. I am using a number of different resources, such a Purple Carrot, Forks over Knives and the like. What I do is make the meal and then blog about how easy or difficult it is to make, how it turns out, and most importantly, how it tastes! Feel free to comment, give your ideas, and share! Mindfully yours, Scott.

  5. Hello blogger world! My name is Valerie, I just started my blog last week. I went to school for Journalism but have found a passion for health and fitness and have decided to marry those passions by starting a blog and Youtube channel! I will share my thoughts on fitness, health, beauty & lifestyle. It is all perspective but hopefully helpful and entertaining! Here’s my first post! Thanks for reading!

  6. Hello, everyone! I am delighted to write here about my first blog. I had published my post on the 30th of August, 2016 and I was overwhelmed with joy seeing the responses. I believe, the more one writes, the better one gets.
Also, when more and more people read one’s blog, more encouraged one feels. So here is the link to my blog- https://annieslach.wordpress.com/ . I would be happy to receive a feedback from my valuable readers. Thank you!

  7. Thank you for offering this! My first post is a rambling outline up for critical review, testing out themes, etc. The ideas just keep coming and I can’t resist. I’m perched upon a half dozen more topical drafts similar to this that I now realize should be broken up into series. I’m torn between so many ideas as I foolishly grope my way along in effort to establish some semblance of rhythm…but I’m finally blogging.

      1. I did.
I liked the feel of the infinite one. Hope you were asking for constructive criticism? You may want to consider keeping with the same page layout in each post so it flows easier. Keep it up!

    1. Welcome!

We’re glad you’re so excited about your blog, but per our guidelines above, please don’t leave multiple repetitive comments linking to your blog. A supportive, substantive response to another blogger is enough to get them interested in you 🙂
