Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hey there! Zeebee here!! I am a relatively new blogger. Just a month old!
I would love some feedback as to the design and my writing style….Someone recently told me my posts seem wayyyyy tooo hyperactive. So can someone give advice as to that as well??
    THANK YOU! 😀

  2. Hello everyone,

After a bit more than a month and a half of blogging I changed the look and the name of my blog. “Bum Tales” become “Nomad 2.0”

I would love to have your feelings and critics about the overall blog visual identity and if it is enjoyable to read.

I am on a free plan so I do not have loads of options.

Probably I will reshape, give improvement and correct mistakes I did in previous posts too (I do not speak english fluently… learning learning, and more learning…).

I am eager to have your opinion on the matter.

    1. Hi! Your blog looks great 😉
One thing only: the background for the list of posts, I would choose something not so bright… White fonts get losts. However, I read it on an iPhone, and I probably need glasses 😝 Happy blogging!

      1. Thanks a lot! I looked at the setting of the posts list and I added a shade to the background picture. it should be better now. Deep Thank you ^^.

    2. I like the layout 🙂 Consider making your title shorter “Nomatic Lifestyle, Inspiration, etc.” — this is tough to remember, and I think Nomad 2.0 is a much more effective title!

      1. Thanks for taking the time!

I changed the site’s description to “Live, Travel, Create” instead of “Nomadic blabla bla”.

Nomad 2.0 “Live, Travel & create” sounds better ^^.

I am on my way to your blog 😉

    3. Visually, it looks good to me on my MacBook. I’m glad you changed your name to Nomad 2.0. That seems to be an apt name for your site. I looked at the labyrinth tree post. It’s a nice photo. And, yes, I was able to find my way out the maze. 🙂 https://gracelead.co

      1. Hehe thanks! It was time to change the name cause I was tired to have some lost viewer looking for porn on google search key word.

Good job about the Maze 🙂
I will probably post some other little ‘nature’ games while wandering around.

    4. Hi Antoine, your blog looks good, I think the theme suits your content. And I prefer your new name.
The story about meeting G and sleeping in his barn was hilarious. I don’t think I would have been as brave as you were!

Please take a look at my blog, it’s also travel themed but a different angle as you may be able to guess from the title 😉

    1. Just stopped by! Nice posts. Consider adding images — images break up the text and add color to your posts. Blogging is very visual!

  4. hi! I recently started a blog for the first time and I’m so excited to see how it does. however I’m also scared that nobody will read it or enjoy it. If anyone could give it a quick look and maybe leave a comment letting me know what you think I would be very grateful! Thanks so much! x

    1. Just commented! Nice content, good use of images. Consider using more tags/categories. You can use up to 15, and adding a few more will help readers find your blog. You can add things like “music” and “back to school”, for example.

    2. Your blog format is clear and nice. I would suggest editing your posts more closely from punctuation and formatting. The content of the posts are lovely, it’s just that they’re this big blocks of text that don’t really encourage reading.

    1. Just commented! Nice post, good content. Consider adding another image to break up the text a bit more — a picture of Gabby Dougals, for example, in the troll/celebrity post.

  5. 4 blogs into 1 … I used to have 4 different blogs, 3 of them places I could blog about a few of my favorite authors, and then another on etymology. I decided to combine them (and now I include Daily Posts as well). It’s a bit of hodgepodge, but at least I have just one site to maintain and update. Let me know your thoughts, please.

    1. Hodgepodges are the best 🙂 Just commented – nice content! I really enjoyed the Kafka post. Consider adding more tags/categories — that can really help new readers find you. Maybe tags like “self” or “relationships” can help!

    1. I’m not sure I’m a new visitor, I think I’ve jumped into your blog begore. What I really like about this is that you tell readers *how* this was shot, along with a short description. It’s like watching football with an appreciation for tactics and formations.

    1. Cute post! Just commented. Nice content, good post length. Consider adding one more image to the post, though it’s not necessary. 🙂 Maybe one of a Christmas tree to go along with the story about it?

    2. Love your sense of humor in your writing lol and btw, great photo skills!
I saw a number of them and I thought they looked really well placed.

I noticed that your “Archive” section is named “Categories”. Perhaps you can rename it so that readers can refer to your older posts much more easily? I only realized you got more content when I read that your blog has been around since 2012 and hence started searching for the archive lol.

Over all, site looks great and it really has a chill feel to it. T’was a really cool experience visiting 😉

I’d love to see more of “You” though. For some reason, the site feels empty at times even though you got some really nice photos to compliment the articles. Maybe it’s because the photos don’t feature people that much? But that might just be me hah.

      Hope this helped bud!

I have been blogging for a little bit. Probably near 2 1/2 months.
I would love to get some feedback on some of my posts such as “The Candle That Burned”, “The Storm” etc. I would appreciate comments on my pieces. Also, I am open to reading a lot peoples posts as well. Eager to read other people’s work.

    1. Just looked through. Nice stories! They have a lot of potential, but like one commenter said, you sometimes tell when you should be showing — that’s a good thing to work on while you hone your writing craft 🙂

    1. Hey Alyssa, checked out your blog. Here are my thoughts:

Loved the layout- It was superbly relaxing. Couple that with the way you write? It has a soothing effect somehow. Either way, my experience over there was really pleasant so that’s good.

It means your other readers will likely experience the same 😉

Considering that your blog is still new, just take note to remember to add “Archive” section so that it’ll be easier for readers to access your older posts in future!

Also, you might wanna consider using images a little more. BUT I totally like how your site feels and look without much images so it’s just a suggestion which isn’t THAT necessary for the moment.

Oh yeah, great personality too! Keep the spark burning bud 😉

Hope this helped and let me know if you got any questions!

      1. I think the formatting is fine! Good use of tags, good color scheme, clean layout, nice header image. However, the “Scribbles in the Margin” title covers up the “writing feature” part of the header image. Not sure if you care that much, but just FYI! Also — consider adding images to go with the posts. Not required, of course, but blogging is very visual and images are a great way to add a spot of color!

    1. Cool post! 🙂 My suggestion: use fewer tags. When you use more than 15 tags/categories, WordPress actually blocks your post from Reader, making it hard for new readers to find you! Try eliminating some so new readers can find you.

    1. Lots of blue, lots of soft blue. You’ve built up quite the following as well, so it’s safe to say that you’ve been around the block in the blogosphere. By the way – it’s interesting that you’ve got a ‘Reading list’, and you’re checking off as you go through them. Do you write about the books you’ve read?

You work will be found soon enough. Not going to lie but some of the work on there is not all that great despite the views.
