If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. (If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!)

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Looks interesting jtramble!!! I would have loved to read if your tumultuous relationship with instant feedback has led you to any self examination or conclusions about your role in society, etc!

    1. Welcome 🙂

Looks like you haven’t given your blog a title yet — you can set one by going to My Site > Customize > Site Identity. If you feel like you could use a little more help with the ins and outs of WordPress.com, there’s a really useful “getting started” tutorial here: http://learn.wordpress.com.

    1. I can relate to the frustration of working somewhere your not happy with. Is your blog more like an online journal? Or will it have niche? (Like a journey for happiness in work 🙂 )

      1. Ahhhh love that you have read it that way, that is exactly how I wanted it.
I type how I speak… I am not a natural writer and was a bit nervous with my posts not being very “professional” but I can only be me 😆

    1. Good day (or evening, depending on location , or general outlook on life)!
I was just perusing this “First Friday” site, as I am also new to the world of blogging, and found your blog title quite intriguing! I think we can all appreciate the commonality of “struggle” in life; having others to share our struggles, regardless of the depth or breadth of those struggles, helps bring strength and insight we cannot achieve on our own. With that, I want to commend you on your upfront honesty, your courage, and your candor. I wish you all the best!

      1. To each, her own! If you want, over share! If you choose to waffle, by all means, waffle! Sometimes creative minds need an outlet – a steam valve, so to speak! Use it, if it helps! Enjoy life!

  1. Greetings Blogging Community! I’m completely new at this; however, I don’t want the unfamiliarity of the circumstances to quash my enthusiasm and hope for, at minimum, mild success. I mean, every relationship starts out with some trepidation and awkwardness, right?
As we’re all here to help support one another in this wild and crazy adventure, I’d really appreciate some unbiased critiques (family & friends, gotta love ’em, but they also love you back, and oft’ times, that love may leave their opinions of your work slightly “rose-colored”), some constructive criticism on both the blog page’s layout and on the post itself, and any pointers, inside tricks, etc., anyone’s willing to share!

(fingers crossed, I’m posting the correct link… *inhale*)

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is = to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. 1. First Fridays are all about peer support — after all, there are hundreds of you, but only one of me 🙂 I’m here to clear the path for you and help with any technical hurdles, but I’m not able to read everyone’s posts. I suggest giving feedback to a few other folks, if you haven’t already, and you’ll soon see that the favor is returned!

    1. I’m quite taken with your ‘humanness’. From admitting the err in naming – umm, spelling – your blog (and as a side note, I found the inspiration of the blog name beautiful!) to the observation of the modern-day “broken family”, you bring an air of realism and heart to the blog community. All the best to you as you continue forward!

Also, I read your last post — you can totally change the name of your blog! You can update the blog’s title by going to My Site > Customize > Site Identity, and you can change the actual address with these instructions: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-blog-address/#instructions-for-changing-your-blog-address

      1. Thank you for your assistance and thank you for the information. It’s good to know I can change names but at this point, I don’t think I will. And it’s even better to know that there’s someone like you who knows the twists and turns on this thing… which brings me to my question, if you don’t mind. How does the text widget work? (insert embarrassed emoji here)

    1. Hi Jessica! It’s a wonderful introduction to a blog you’ve got there. However, I see no where where I can comment or maybe it’s because the page didn’t load correctly. If it’s the latter, then you are good to go but if it is the former I suggest you make room for comments. Two heads are better than one and comments would make you see the way the world views your blog and give you ideas on how to give your blog a facelift.
