The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

What a lovely post!!!
I really enjoyed reading this and appreciated all the pictures you provided to show how creative you can be in creating your own shorts.
You may want to consider doing some spell and grammar checking, and perhaps wrapping the text around the pictures (you can do that while editing the post).

Hello!! If you look at some of my posts, the text wrap around the pictures. There is a button on the top menu when you are writing your draft in WordPress that allows you to do this. If you click on the picture, you have option to make it smaller. Then if you click beside the picture and click on the buttons on the top toolbar, you can put the text in the paragraph below either to the left or the right of the picture. Let me know if this helps 🙂

This is such an interesting place to meet and share. A great idea it was to create this space for us. Thank you.
I have been on WordPress for less than a month and have met so many people already. It is an easy place to connect with like minded folks without having to go around and around to find people with similar likes.
I have tried many times to add my daily prompt by doing a pingback and it never goes through. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong but cannot seem to figure it out.

Hello,
I think your post is really well organized.
The use of screen shots, and providing the text to type into ‘Terminal’ is very helpful. Perhaps use even more screen shots when there are multiple steps to achieve a certain action.
The post is very well organized into clear steps, and quite easy to follow even for someone that doesn’t know anything about the subject matter.
Also, the use of bold and different colors really highlights important things.
You may want to consider putting your writing through a spell and grammar checker to help it flow a little better.
🙂

I think you have many options. I believe you can spell check right in the draft when you are editing it in WordPress. You could also use Microsoft Word to do the writing – it has a full spell and grammar check – then cut and paste into WordPress. I hope this helps 🙂

Good morning! I was wondering if the title of this is confusing because it’s a negative? And if you can get past any confusion, does the title imply that it’s going to be humorous? Trying to get the proper expectation set up for this piece. Lastly, do you feel like if you haven’t written a book then it wouldn’t apply to you and you’d skip it? Thanks for honest feedback!

Personally, I really enjoyed this 🙂 The title is a bit long, but the parentheses punctuate it well. I definitely saw the humor coming (and you delivered it quite well!). As someone who is in the process of writing a book, I totally understand your feelings — not sure how a non-writer would feel about it.
One other suggestion: maybe put the image of your book at the bottom, where you link to it on Amazon? Not sure starting with the image is the most effective, but your call!

Hey! I liked reading your post. One thing that people need to do is be self-aware. By that I mean knowing what works and what don’t. It also helps to make a list of things that help you manage your stress. In college, we called that having a “toolbox” of techniques that we could pull from so when one thing doesn’t work, you have other ideas and you don’t get burned out by doing one thing. Great post! If you would, please check out my blog at http://merrymadnessblog.wordpress.com as I am fairly new at blogging! Thanks!

Just commented 🙂 Nice content, good blog length. My suggestions: one, try breaking your text up into different paragraphs. A big block of text can be intimidating to readers. Two, consider adding images. In a post as long as the inferiority one, a single image is enough 🙂

Hey,
I enjoyed checking out your blog posts, especially the one on luxury consumerism – you certainly have a way with words that makes your writing very pleasant (and honest!) to read. I like the fact that your life blog is thought-provoking and almost seems to coerce me into contemplating the smaller things in life and the daily sensations (as well as some of the more philosophical!)
Not sure if my blog is something you would like – it’s not a real life blog unfortunatly… but would certainly enjoy some feedback on it e.g. how to make it more eloquent/appealing perhaps?

Hi to everyone, I’m really enjoying The Daily Post’s writing prompts. They are pulling stories out of me from secret places. Enjoyable read! I really like your title image and also the way you ended the story. His entrance appeared like he was a stranger, giving advice upon relation to what she was going through, but toward the end was was so apparent that he was there in her mind to remind her to keep reaching. The prompts seem really helpful 🙂 ! Great!
