New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to some other new faces, and find your first few readers.

If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.
To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.
To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.
Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. (If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!)
Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:
- We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
- When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
- Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
- Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
- To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.
Currently blogless? You’re a click away from sharing your story.

It seems like a good start, though I haven’t quite got what is your blog going to be about? Is there a section that introduces yourself? I couldn’t find it. Perhaps it should be a bit more user friendly!

Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.
As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!
Happy blogging, y’all:)

A friend and I started a blog two weeks ago as a creative outlet and exploration of our experiences as mothers of young children. We chose to relate parenting experiences through analysis of various Disney films we watch with our children. Any thoughts or feedback is appreciated! Here is a link to our first post:

DIYMariellis has two focuses: nerdy nostalgia (plus Disney and Pixar) and DIY projects/artsy things, preferably combined. Also owls. And galaxies.
It’s already managed to evolve a lot in the ten posts since I started at the end of July, and the first post is just a brief post getting used to the format and introducing my partners in crime.

Welcome! I noticed you’re using a lot of tags on your post. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more read.

I started a blog page about 5 months ago and just posted my second blog. I’m not sure if I’m doing it right, I really get no readers. Please take a look, would love feedback. Is the blog page supposed to have a theme or can each one be unrelated to the other? Here is the one I posted today: https://nayvaryan.wordpress.com/2016/08/12/horrible-hotel-experience-at-the-quality-inn-suites-in-niagara-falls/

The blog is nice and very informative, don’t worry! I thought there was something wrong with my blog too when I Iaunched it 2 months ago but then I started commenting blogs with similar focuses and started checking out new blogs at Community Pools and it turned out that people simply didn’t know it existed! Try to comment at least 5 blogs a day and they’ll return the favour 🙂

Hi guys,
I just started my blog today! It’s called Writing In Twenty. It’s a project I’m embarking on to help me master the art of creative writing and storytelling by participating in daily twists and prompts provided by Dailypost.
Check out my first blog post introducing myself and my intent: https://writingintwenty.wordpress.com/2016/08/12/who-i-am-and-why-im-here/
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

What motivates all of you to write in a public form? Is it the outward expression of your inner life is fulfilling? a desire to work on the craft of writing (use of language, imagery, story telling)? are you supporting a budding business? or hope to be a published author? do you have a theme for the material you are blogging about (like an interest)? I have two blogs. One I have had for years and was started strictly to tell friends and family about my adventures and allow them to easily access photos. But my desire to keep it private was a hindrance to them actually getting access because Google made it difficult for non-Gmail users to access private blogs. I never did get over that impasse with that blog. The readers dwindled, even among family. I felt like I was just talking to myself!
I came to WordPress to explore how a private blog could be distributed without readers logging in. Or getting a feeder application. I started a new blog here, without a plan, a theme or even a sense of why. I am a very private person, but I have always liked to write. But I am torn by the blogging experience, between being open to the world and not. I wonder if I even thoughts worth sharing.
So I’d be interested in hearing others’ motivations.

I have a similar struggle. I am not so much a private person but am wary of the Internet and all the ways in which one’s privacy can be hacked. Also, my husband is very private and so in writing about family matters I have to be careful to leave him out as much as possible. I have always enjoyed writing and have a collection of short stories and thoughts that I’ve been sitting on for years, so I last week I just thought, what the heck, maybe others can benefit from my ramblings. And if not then there’s really no negative ramifications. It’s a sort of Pascal’s Wager of writing. Glad to have you blogging and thanks for the outreach question!

I think that the main reason why I began writing here again was that it helped me to be a bit more creative. I’ve been trying out various styles of writing and that has helped me to get new ideas in as well. I also feel that by having sucj a platform on which to display my work, it will help me with any creative writing opportunities that I might apply for. What is your current motivation behind writing?
LikeLike
Originally it was tell my family and friends about my adventures. My family especially knew my sense of humor so I could be nutty if I felt like it. I’ve always enjoyed writing and I think I express myself better when writing, than when speaking. But I do question whether or not I have anything to say that is worth publishing. Perhaps blogs in many cases are ways of connecting with people, in a digital age, that is more indepth than a Facebook post. I don’t know. And for people who enjoy writing and who enjoy reading well crafted essays, there is a simple pleasure to be found in blogs/blogging.

That’s really true. Also it’s a form of catharsis and I guess an attempt to find like-minded people.

I think maybe writing for me, if writing non fiction, brings thoughts and feelings into focus. After writing, I better understand the experience.
