Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. I’ve been blogging since April, so I’m still learning as I’m sure many of us are. The posts I have written so far can be categorized as lifestyle and positivity—at least that’s what I’m aiming for. Feel free to take a look at my blog, send feedback, and even a follow if you’re feeling extra engaged! I recently changed my site’s theme so I’m still working on adjusting some things! Thanks, can’t wait to be introduced to all the other unique sites out there. 🙂

    1. I enjoyed Seawater, and agree with paminat0r’s comment about there being something eerie. Perhaps it is just that idea of the Ocean as a life force of its own, and the way the narrator in Seawater is talking to it, and talking to it about its power. Great photo as well.

    1. I have now looked at you blog for some minutes now, and I get the feeling there is something that are missing. But I can’t put my finger on it.
Maybe try to put a little more color on the blog. Or something that breaks it up a little bit.
Maybe not the best feedback but maybe it can be to some help.

      1. Yes, I try to. Perhaps, I will try to make that a bit more of a priority. I tend to go for the like button more then posting a full comment, but a full comment is much nicer. Okay, that is helpful. Thank you

  2. I just shared an idea with another blogger whose posts always make me laugh or are otherwise so eloquently worded. It’s not a revolutionary idea but I’ve been thinking of asking the authors of blogs who write humor articles if I could give them a bit of an introduction then post one of their stories on my blog. It’s not a deal where I would expect that someone might return the favor and post one of mine on their site, I’m purely looking at it as a way to support the community AND entertain my subscribers with really funny or otherwise interesting stuff. Is anyone doing this? If so, is it well-received? I’d be very selective in what articles I’d want to put on my blog but there are a handful of folks who write some really funny things that I’d like to share. If you have any experience with this, let me know. If you write a humor blog and would be interested in participating, let me know. If you think I’m a moron, keep that to yourself. Thanks! Frank

    1. I just checked out your site and instantly knew I’d like everything below the Google search for faking your own death to avoid people. So funny! Following you so I can spend more time reading (and laughing).

  3. Hi All,

I’ve just posted on my blog the drawings I made. Please check them out and tell em what you think about them. I want to transfer them on clothes and I really need some feedback on them. 🙂 I will come back soon with some visual designs as well, so keep tuned. 😉

I’m happy to check out your stuff too!

  4. I’m pretty new to blogging and I’m not really sure what direction to go in, my first post was kind of a little intro about me and how I love individuality and encouraging others to be true to themselves, my other few posts have tended to revolve around prepping for my senior year. I’d really appreciate some advice on any of the individual posts or ideas for new posts (I also think I’d like to turn my most recent post “senior year-a narrative: back to school” into a series(have them all begin with senior year-a narrative: …) I’d appreciate some feedback on that as well! Thanks in advance!! 🙂 https://artfullyunique.wordpress.com/

    1. I’m also a new blogger, two weeks old, but I love to share the love. I think it’s cool you are chronicling your senior year because trust me, it goes by way too fast. Your blog is almost like a survival guide for seniors. There is so much you can do with this topic, such as homework, parties, how to deal with teachers, assignments, boys, experimenting, the list goes on. Once you delve into your senior year, you’ll begin to see. Just don’t force it. You are off to a great start!

      1. Awesome! Thank you so much for the feed back!! And I can’t even imagine how fast this year is going to go, the first three seem to have flown by so I’m sure this last one will feel like only a few days.

  5. Hi everyone I host an art blog featuring both my own artwork as well as sometimes writing about the work of other artists. My main objective is storytelling through art focusing on history, folklore and fantasy as well as other genres.

I’m looking to connect with like minded individuals and any feedback on my overall blog will be greatly appreciated.

      1. It’s these sorts of pictures that make me want to go travelling and discover the world for myself! You are so lucky to have been able to experience that!

  6. Hey guys! I want to ask your advice on something. Most of the time I write about trivial stuff like my daily life or my travels, but sometimes I would like to write about serious topics too. I tried with brexit, and that worked fine, but then I wrote about the 22nd of July, a day of national grief in Norway, and that didn’t really work at all. Thought? Any feedback appreciated!

  7. Hi everyone!

What a great place for novice bloggers like myself to share their ideas and receive feedback. I started blogging a couple of years ago but soon became disenchanted by the lack of views and comments I received. I write for myself, but when I share what I write, I do so in the hope of connecting with others. As yet, I have had no feedback on my blog, so I have no idea if what I write is of interest to others. I would really love to have some feedback and to interact with fellow bloggers. More than anything, I want my words to resonate with others and to help them articulate feelings that perhaps they couldn’t previously identify. I’d love it if you would take the time to peruse my blog and leave your feedback and comments.

    1. I completely understand. I just started my blog two weeks ago and some days I feel like I’m writing to myself and other days I feel like I’m writing to others. I know I’m still new but what I have noticed is that I get the most traffic from personal posts where people are like, “Oh yeah me too! I totally understand!” You write really well so don’t let other bloggers discourage you from not posting. I would also make your blog visually appealing so other bloggers will want to spend time there.

    2. Have you set up your Reader with Tags so you can find posts similar to the type you write? By finding those and commenting on them, you will increase your visibility with people who would likely want to engage with your blog. https://gracelead.co

    1. You are off to a good start. With Mercury to Pluto as a title, the header with flowers seems odd. If you can find something that shows our solar system that would be nice. Your post was easy to read except for the lack of capital letters to begin sentences and using “i” instead of “I.” https://gracelead.co

  10. Hey guys! I’ve been getting back into posting a few blogs a month over the summer. They range in topics but I would be happy to see if you have any tips on writing style, editing, organization, or anything else! Thanks 🙂

    1. Hello, I looked at your blog and I like the it. Simple, nothing disturbing our eyes while reading your writings. I like them and the struggle between keeping faith in human kind despite deceptions and suffering. The big question behind. Is it better to live heartless than with a heart broken? But still be human.

  11. Hello everyone, I began my blog a bit more than a month ago. Lately I discovered the daily posts, its challenges, and its helping hands about blogging. I know it’s all other the place and I wonder how the heck I didn’t pay attention to it. I was probably to focus on myself and my little posts…

But here I am opening myself more and more to the big wild world of blogging. I would love to have your feedback on my posts and the overall look of my blog.

You will find travel stories and memories, drawings, photos of my trips, travel tips and crazy insights. I am no English native speaker so there might be mistakes do not hesitate to tell me about it. I am struggling with finding a free template that will suit the travel spirit of the blog. Tell me if you know some that would fit this purpose.

A big thanks for those who will take the time to have a look.

    1. I read your About Page and your post Work in Progress. It was a bit long and rambly. On the other hand, it seemed as though I was sitting across the table from you listening to your adventures as we had a cup of tea 🙂 As promised, you do have opportunities for proofreading. Here are two: (1) “stuffs” should be “stuff” (2) “the longer I can with low money” shoud be “as long as I can with little money.” Your photos are nice. One thing you might want to do is put a short caption under each one telling us where you took it. https://gracelead.co

      1. Thanks a lot for the feedback and taking the time!

Definitely I need to improve my writings. Practice, practice, practice. I corrected the mistakes you noticed.

About the pictures in my posts you are right, I need to fill captions as well and all the setting in WordPress before I get overwhelmed with this matter. This is me being lazy.

I am really glad you had the feeling to be sitting with me sharing a few thoughts cause this is the style I try to aim for.

Thanks again, I hope to share more with you in the future.

  12. Hey everyone 🙂

Looking for tips and advice on my blog overall but also on being a lifestyle blogger: post ideas, how to increase traffic, keep interest. I know that being a lifestyle blogger is a tough sell because why should a stranger care about my stories but looking for help to get readers to care and keep coming back.

    1. I enjoyed hearing about your adventure. My muscles ache just thinking about it 🙂 Your post was easy to read except for a few grammar issues. For example, “think to much” should be “think too much” and “sights we seen” should be “sights we saw.” https://gracelead.co
