Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hi!
I really love the concept. I read a couple of your poems and I have to say I was impressed with the depth and content of your poems. I really enjoyed it! If you don’t mind checking out my blog at https://whiteteetalk.wordpress.com/ and giving some feedback and maybe giving it a follow if you like it (: Check out my ‘About’ page as well. Again, wonderful job and I myself am a poet and I can definitely say you have grasped the concept of meaningful poetry.

    1. I really enjoyed your poetry! I especially loved the line “Despite their righteous power//Rock gods are mortal men” Your poetry really has depth to it and don’t put yourself down you most certainly ARE a poet!! If you don’t mind checking out my fashion blog and maybe giving it a follow I’d appreciate it a lot. https://whiteteetalk.wordpress.com/
Again, wonderful poetry and I can’t wait to read more!

    2. I like your poetry. It was great language. My favorite word is beckons. I would suggest that you take some time and subtract repeated phrases like, “close enough…close enough”. For your blog in general it looks simple and plain. I suggest you play with your design to draw your readers in more. Other than that great work.

      1. Thank you for your honesty. I really haven’t taken any time to work on my page design and I agree, it needs to happen. There’s just so much to do!

  2. Heylo!

I was just wondering if I might be able to get a little bit of feedback on a new post I just put up? I’m running a competition, and it’s the first one I’ve done on my blog, so I just wanted to be sure that I’ve not missed anything? If anyone has run similar competitions and has thoughts on what does/doesn’t work best, it would be amazing! Any other feedback on the post, and on my blog in general is always super helpful as well 🙂

Looking forward to hearing from you lovely folks!

    1. I didn’t want to leave this comment in the poem’s post, considering that I’m reading it in a coffee shop for breakfast in a cloudy day and the mood just seems right, but a question: was the font size for the first two lines larger on purpose? I know I sound like I’m being pedantic, but I’ve been knocked around for not getting the visual structure of a body of poetry before.

    1. What I like about this particular post is that it’s still a fitness blog beneath it all, but you’re baring parts of your life for us readers to see. Yes, getting fit is hard. Staying there is hard. Juggling both with real life is harder. All of it’s doable, and you’re giving the readers ideas (or at least some kind of sense) that it’s possible. Liked, and followed.

  3. Hi Community Pool|!

I just started my blog a month ago and I’d really love to get more feedbacks about my writing 🙂

Here’s a snippet of a story I probably wouldn’t ever finish, a mix of real life memories and fiction.

    Echoes.

And here is the one I wrote about love, misery, hope and heartbreak.

    1. There are a couple of things on organization you might want to consider. You have Beauty is Charm showing up twice in your Menu. Did you intend one to be Books Are a Lifesaver? I looked at a post about Choice which gave some haristyle choices. You put it in the Books Are a Lifesaver category. That is confusing. What does it have to do with books? Wouldn’t it fit better in the Beauty is Charm category? https://gracelead.co

    1. I agree with your view of not being a fan of someone. I left a comment on your post. If you are open to some proofreading, here are some suggestions: (1) “why I think so?” should be “why do I think so?” (2) “become fan of” should be “become a fan of” (3) “we loss” should be “we lose” [in several places] https://gracelead.co

  5. Hi everyone, I’m new girl Corina and am enjoying the friendly community here. I write fiction and love one-word writing prompts. I tried one from The Daily Post recently what flew out of my fingers surprised me. I have no life experience like the character the prompt hatched from me and I would like to know if anyone else is surprised by what prompts can draw out. I’m interested in reading any such posts of yours and if you’d like to read mine, it’s a response to the prompt “paint” at https://alchemyofstory.wordpress.com/2016/08/07/the-reveal/
Thanks and best wishes to all.

  6. Hello, pool goers. It’s been a couple weeks. It’s been busy since Comic-Con. For those who would enjoy a review of the con w/ no badge, and any tips to motive a faster turn around appreciated. Sometimes turnaround is quick, other times not as much as I’d like. I still haven’t written my review of Pixar Studios and that was a month ago, pushed back by Comic Con.

Comic-Con International 2016: ConanCon. And was one badge-less day worth it?
