Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hi, I read your posts and can actually relate to both. I think I am the queen of procrastination, and like you, uni deadlines were adhered to, self imposed ones are not.
One last thing, I guess you like purple 😉

More than that, I’ve found myself questioning my approach to blogging. I haven’t really been putting enough effort in cultivating a supportive community which is one of the best parts of this medium SO if you like what you see on my blog don’t be scared to reach out and I’m more than happy to check out your work and maybe we can be internet friends 🙂

  2. I’d really like some advice on my parenting blog. First of all is there anything I could improve on?
Also at the moment I do not really show my childrens faces is it possible to have a succesful parenting blog with out showing faces?. My children 8, 6 and 3 say they are fine with it and actually want to do some fun videos but its me who has been unsure about it.
I’d love some advice thank you 😀

    1. I love the pictures on your blog, they are a great alternative to including your children while at the same time not including them by not showing their faces entirely. They are rather artistic photographs and compliment your posts well. Keep it up and don’t follow the crowd. It’s content that matters and yours is great 🙂

  3. Hey y’all! I’d like some tips and advice for my blog I just got started up, and I would also love to connect with other bloggers. I take all my aerial photography with a DJI Phantom 3 Drone. Pretty fun stuff. Please come check it out!

    1. You make a good point. Sometimes the direct approach causes problems. There is power in a skillfully told story or parable. Regarding traffic, are you using the Reader to find post related to your blog? In the Reader, you could set us a Tag such as “preaching the truth” and let WordPress look for posts with that tag. You could then read those posts and leave comments. This would give you visibility to those most likely to appreciate your blog site. https://gracelead.co

      1. Thank you paminat0r for you feedback on my blog. In regards to traffic, I have been using reader to try to get an idea of what tags are similar to the audiences I’m trying to reach and comment on those. Haven’t had that much success but at least you let me know that I was on the right path. Thank you for your insight.

    1. I read your article about Poor defining you. It is well-written. Surely, they could put their collective heads together and think of a better solution. On your About page, you referred to yourself as a creative mess. It occurs to me that creativity often gets messy. Learning how to channel it is the challenge. https://gracelead.co

      1. Thank-you very much. Your feedback is much appreciated. You would think that considering they are government officials they would be able to come up with something that will get rid of the deficit without harming the vulnerable in society.
I do agree, creativity is an ongoing mess and usually stays so.

    1. The writing looks good, but I like how you’ve laid out the post itself, punctuated by large key quotes. However, the proofreader that’s taken residence in my frontal lobe (I’m somewhat into dissertation mode right now, I apologize) is making me notice some spelling and punctuation errors such as missing periods and run-on sentences here and there (but not everywhere).

  5. Hello all. Looking for any comments I can get about my fictional blog. Just doing it to have some fun, but curious to see how long I can keep this going. Thanks in advance!

    1. I do relate to your post about thoughts when you were little. It didn’t help that my mom would make up things because she didn’t want to answer my questions. That may be one reason I became skeptical about things that people told me 🙂 https://gracelead.co

    1. Hey! I really enjoyed your blog! Its really creative and appealing both with your writing and the colorful pictures and background. I love that in the in post you gave the link to apply. The only advice I would give about your post about the Disney Program is to describe your experience. — https://thebestofbrianna.wordpress.com/
