If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. (If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment!)

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I think you have a good start to your blog. I would play around more with it until you are comfortable with it. Make the blog your own. I think what will help is if you join the blogging university on the WordPress page. It will motivate you to post everyday and make changes to your blog.

      1. Thank you, sincerely! My whole problem is that I play around with things until I’m comfortable with them and then people get bored while they’re waiting for me to get comfortable! However, what’s the use of putting out content if you’re not happy with it personally? I’m going to go check out your blog now thank you so much again for the reply!!

  1. Hi everyone. I started my blog just under a month ago with https://whereverthemindwanderssoshallmypenfollow.wordpress.com/2016/07/13/alright-so-here-we-go/
I think I am really starting to find my voice. As per the rules, I won’t post my newest here, but if you wander over to my page I’d value some feedback on my newer posts as well.
“Alright, so here we go…” felt forced and awkward. I was unsure what to say. I read a blog article that said to talk like your talking amongst friends. Now, I feel more natural and my posts sound more like me.
Thanks for coming by. I’m off to indulge in some of the other newbie’s posts, now. Happy blogging!

    1. Welcome!

One thing — I noticed you’re using a lot of tags on your post. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more read.

      1. Thanks for the tips! Should I go back and edit or just use it as a reference for al future posts. Sidenote: I do believe I’ve gotten better at being less excessive. 🙂

  2. Just started blogging. This was my first published post (I retroactively publicized one I wrote before this one). I used to be an open book, until a series of events made me feel like isolation was a safer choice. After living alone –this past year- I realize isolation is an illusion and not an effective way to do life. I’m opening my book back up…whether I’m ready or not. Thank you for visiting!

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is = to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s you’re site: http://thewhisperwithinlive.wordpress.com/

  5. I tried sharing my blog as a whole…but that was deleted, and noticed other people posting a link to most recent post, so just following that? I’ve been on here less than 2 weeks, so bit confused…

    1. If you read the Follow Friday post, you’ll see that we ask you not to share in multiple Follow Friday threads — there are many new folks every week, and we try to keep this space as focused as we can on the new bloggers.

      1. I thought it would be okay to use it in the first two weeks of having my blog – I apologise for using it again
