The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hey everyone,
As I am really new to blogging can anyone tell me how to go about talking about someone else’s blog through mine as in reviewing theirs. Do I need to take their permission if I want to review their blog?
LikeLike
I’m not sure what you mean… Do you want to put a link to someone’s blog on one of your posts?
LikeLike
umm… yeah sort of. I recently found another blogger’s post really impressive and want to write on the same grounds and want to mention her in the post.
LikeLike
Oh right, so you want to link back to a certain blog or post. Got it. All you have to do is write your post as you normally would, then you highlight the name of the blog that you wrote on your post and click on the hyperlink icon (it looks like a couple of rings connected like a chain) and a box will pop up. Then you type the web address of the post you want to link to and press OK. Hope that helps.
LikeLiked by 1 person
thank you so much!!! It will definitely help.
Also, I have started blogging recently and have edited it just some time back. It would be great if you could spend some time going through it and giving some suggestions whether I could make any improvements.

you can just add a link to their blog in general, or to specific posts

so like I don’t need to consult with them right?

They will get noticed and either give you permission or not

If you can see their blog, then it is public. You or anyone can link to it from their own site. What is NOT good is to copy content off their blog and use it as your own. That’s where you would need permission.

Thank you so much!

You don’t necessarily need permission and I’m sure if you’re writing nice things then no one will mind, but if you’re being constructive or a little harsh, then perhaps it’s a good idea to contact the blogger and ask first.

Your header is hard to read on mobile, since it’s white on white. Perhaps try anther color?
For your most recent post, it’s on tips for preparing for exam season, right? Maybe change the title so that at first glance, readers will get a gist of what it’s about.

Hey, I agree about the titles – they need to be a bit more descriptive. (This will also help search engines to find them!)
One thing I would advise… Unless you have lots and lots of ideas, pace yourself on how often you post. Today you posted twice, which would be quite hard to keep up!

Love the profound friendship post. People from your past that pop on your Facebook always bring back nostalgia. What I would suggest is going back and rereading your writing to yourself so you can see if it flows and omit errors. I find that helps because then you can see where an area may need work or something can be added. Overall great! Love the poems.

Like I said in the comment, I like the parallel to Samuel and Job. Even though anger and bargaining have been shown throughout history to be human reactions to grief, is it acceptable to God that time and time again, we keep on doing it?

It’s interesting that your post reminded me how many newer Christians think or expect everything to be struggle-free. As we both know, that is not the case. It is so easy to slip back into that way of thinking. Yet, the satisfaction of gradually becoming the people He desires us to be, is immense. https://gracelead.co

Your thoughts are relatable. Your posts would be easier to read with a little work on grammar. For example, “much thoughts” should be “many thoughts” and “be sleep button for mind” should be “be a sleep button for my mind.” One thing you might try is an app like hemingwayapp.com to give you some tips. https://gracelead.co

Thanks! I really should work on my grammar, usually mistakes happen because I just write what I think and not check it afterwards. It’s like flow of thoughts. And excuse that English isn’t my first language is getting old. 😀

The link you posted was a little bit broken. ^^ But I read your poem “Who Am I?” and I really liked it. I especially liked how most of the stanzas stuck mainly to question marks, and in the last one it didn’t have any, answering the questions. What I would recommend would be to play around with the prosody of the poem. This website has a brief description of some of the more common ones in English poetry: http://www.writing.upenn.edu/~afilreis/88/meter.html Try a few out and see what you think. Good job!
