The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

My suggestion: maybe add some images! You can go online to sites like Flickr and use the search filter “creative commons.” These images are free to use as long as you credit the user who posted them. Images are a great way to add more color to your blog and break up the text 🙂

There was some form of formatting problem though. I’m reading the post on my computer and it’s a little jumbled. Did you perhaps write this on your phone?

I’m sorry, I don’t have much advice for you. I didn’t manage to fix it until I got a laptop but that’s because I wasn’t even blogging much before that. There are some things I can suggest such as checking to see if your theme is static (meaning it changes to match the different device.) Or paste the post into facebook and then back into wordpress before publishing as this gets rid of any pre formatted problems.
Also use enter to go down a line and not space.
I’m sorry if none of this helps, I can’t think of anything else. Good luck 🙂

Nice Netflix post — anticipation is painful, and I loved your math! My suggestion: maybe add another image to break up the text a little more 🙂 Blogging is a very visual platform, and one or two more images (maybe of your favorite shows!) will add to the post.

I read the mac and cheese post and the camping one. Nice content, good use of images in the mac and cheese post, and good post length. Maybe add an image to the camping post as well, since it will break up the text a little. 🙂

Your post on your neighborhood mac and cheese bake off is great. What a neat event! I would definitely go to one of those if my neighborhood had them. I like your post is short and too the point, not taking up oodles of time to read, yet it also brings up some great thoughts. Thank you for sharing! I am always a fan of mac and cheese, and this event is a great way to develop and close and safe neighborhood. Very cool! Hi Jack!
I just had a read through your post and have quite a few thoughts on it 🙂 I like the storyline and you’ve done a great job of developing Karl! I feel like maybe you could use a little bit less ‘telling’ – when you tell us that Karl is pulling on his hair in order to relieve stress, I think that might be unnecessary. Just the act of him tugging on his hair is pretty widely recognised as something that people do because they’re freaking out. I was also wondering if maybe you could do a little more development on Karl’s relationship with his family (it’s barely mentioned) and him missing out on important aspects of their life due to his work. This would make the final scene in Johnson’s office more impactful. I’d love to see some more of your work in the future and hope we can network!! I’m always looking for new writers to get in touch with and keep building a supportive, online writers community 🙂

Nice “Legend” poem 🙂 I’m more of a fiction writer than a poet, but I think you’ve got something good here! I like the feel of this poem. Might be a good idea to try to make the line lengths more uniform — right now they have varying lengths. Normally, when the length changes, it means something for the poem: a change in tone, etc. Some of your lines might be more powerful shorter. For example:
“I’ll get there one day and they’ll all see,
Over a thousand reasons they shouldn’t have looked down on me”
could become:
“I’ll get there one day and then they’ll all see
why they shouldn’t have looked down on me”
But that’s just me. Like I said, I’m more of a fiction person than a poet. Either way, the key is to not force the rhyme!

Cute story! I liked the lipstick stain one 🙂 Good image, cute content. My suggestion: watch your grammar. Abbreviations like “ur” make your writing look weaker. Just type it out! It doesn’t take much longer to type, and it makes your post look much more professional. Same goes for the bold — there’s no need to bold the dialogue. Just put it in quotation marks. 🙂

The lipstick stain story is good, especially the ending tied back to the photo. Your post would be easier to read if you fix the little grammar errors. For instance “on stake” should be “at stake.” https://gracelead.co
