First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to some other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” or “Please look at my blog!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hey, my Blog is fairly new but my first post was a couple of months ago – I wasn’t really ready to start blogging then but now I am so I am sort of thinking of my second post (published today) as my first!! Hope this is ok!! I think that lots of people would enjoy my blog!!

It is mainly aimed at young adults and teens and will cover everything from lifestyle to fashion to cooking and food!

The link to my site is: http://www.emmeryblogs.wordpress.com

      1. I would recommend spending an afternoon in the Customizer in order to get your blog to behave the way you want. For example, your blog theme has three text Widgets before we get to your blog posts themselves. What do you want them to say?

Also, make use of tags – this can get more people from Reader to look at your blog. You’ll find them on the left side of the window whenever you write up a blog post.

    1. Perfection is overrated. Once you’re there, where else is there to go? What else is there to do? Sounds boring.

That said, welcome to the blogosphere – an experiment in self-expression and observation into the human condition as well as our place in it. Bring cookies.

    2. Great thoughts here Juet! In a world so inundated with Victoria Secret Angels airbrushed into every young girl’s image of themselves, I couldn’t agree more! To me, beauty and perfection IS the ability to flaunt the original, unpolished version of yourself and feel great in your own skin!! What a positive message to send out to those who share the struggle you’re overcoming!! Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed reading your post. Your nearly 24yr journey captured my attention, as I was able to relate to your story on a few different levels. I could almost imagine looking into your sad eyes and offering a hug or word of encouragement somehow! I was saddened by the losses you have endured, but felt inspired by the wisdom and insight you seem to have beyond your years! I agree that we are all a mess, and definitely feel the transparent contribution of others sharing theirs could be therapeutic and remind us that our journeys need not be alone!

  2. It will probably be painfully apparent that I’m new here, but I’ve always enjoyed reading other’s blogs. I have no idea if anyone will read or like my posts, but it felt pretty great allowing my thoughts and feelings to pour out in the form of words to share with anyone who might relate or be encouraged either way!

    1. I feel your pain!! And I’m quite certain I’m not the only one, so now that you’ve made the plunge to put it out here, you KNOW you have to be accountable! You could be on to something here, and I need all the inspiration I can get too, so yes…let’s see how this goes!

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: https://motherhoodandmarriagecom.wordpress.com/

I noticed your home page still has lots of placeholder text on it; you might want to hold off on sharing until you get it set up the way you’d like! If you need a hand, there’s a great tutorial at http://learn.wordpress.com.

      1. Thanks I realized after I posted it was the wrong link and then did not know how to delete. In still trying to figure things out.
